Purpose of your role

This role will be a key source of financial and operational support to the APAC Financial Controller and Assistant Group Financial Controller in ensuring compliance with statutory and regulatory financial reporting requirements, and timely and accurate taxation compliance for the region and Group.  This role will include providing support for the audits from both a financial statement and tax perspective, for the Group and the APAC subsidiaries, in addition to monthly and ad hoc accounting needs. 

What you do

  • Support, as required, the half-year and full-year reporting of OFX Group results to the ASX, including involvement in the preparation of the consolidated financial report. Provide necessary assistance and supporting analysis to the external auditors (both local and overseas) as required in a timely manner.
  • Support the preparation of the audited and unaudited financial reports for the APAC subsidiaries.
  • Managing the payment process for tax instalments with various APAC region tax authorities and ensuring tax provision records reconcile to tax office statements.
  • Involvement in the preparation of the income tax returns both for the Group and the APAC subsidiaries and provide assistance to the external tax advisers.
  • Play an active role in the month-end financial close cycles including timetabling, team status meetings, completion of allocated tasks, and ensuring general ledger accounts are accurate and meet the recognition and measurement requirements of Australian and International accounting standards.
  • Co-ordinate the monthly balance sheet reconciliations across the team, including preparation of key balances assigned to you.
  • Lead the process of the quarterly balance sheet reconciliation review, analysis, and actively participate in the meeting with the CFO and other key stakeholders.
  • Manage end-to-end process of completing the regulatory reporting for some of the APAC subsidiaries to ensure compliance with respective regulatory guidance and requirements.
  • Support the APAC Financial Controller and Assistant Group Financial Controller, as required, to assist in undertaking research to understand new or amended accounting pronouncements and their relevance to OFX’s operations to make recommendations for application and initial implementation.
  • Involvement in ad hoc Finance initiatives as necessary and agreed.

What you bring

Qualifications

  • Tertiary qualifications in accounting/business/commerce.
  • CA/CPA qualified preferred.

Knowledge, skills, experience

  • Approximately 5-7 years’ experience in a financial accounting and reporting-focused role, including at a group level.
  • Exposure to corporate income tax, including a basic understanding of current and deferred income tax.
  • Able to monitor and meet multiple deadlines and competing priorities.
  • Competent with business writing (accounting papers, board papers, qualitative annual report disclosures etc).
  • Attention to detail.
  • Flexible and creative problem solver.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Understanding of and experience in balance sheet account reconciliations.
  • Strong communication skills (written and verbal).
  • ASX-listed experience preferred.
  • ERP experience preferred (e.g. D365, NetSuite, Oracle, or SAP).
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Excel.
