Instrumentation
Instrumentation goes to market with IMI’s range of high integrity instrumentation products for offshore oil and gas platforms, refineries and chemical plants. Our precision components are at the heart of the energy and chemical industry’s most marvellous machines – with market leading fluid control products tackling the most extreme operating conditions and engineering challenges on the planet.
At the heart of our offering are Actuators, Positioners Final Control elements like solenoid valves, air preparation equipment, pneumatic and hydraulic pressure switches, I/P and E/P convertors, and redundant valve manifold systems (RVM). In addition, Instrumentation will be working to bring a new range of monitoring devices to market.
Role Overview
The Senior Finance Manager is responsible for overseeing all financial, administrative, and compliance activities of the company. Leading a multidisciplinary team across Finance, Shipping & Logistics (within Accounts Receivable), and IT, the role ensures accurate financial reporting, effective cash flow and working capital management, and strict adherence to both local and Group accounting standards. Acting as the key liaison between the Italian site and Global Instrumentation, this position promotes transparency, operational efficiency, and strategic alignment within the wider organization.
Key Responsibilities
Duties will include but not be limited to:
Financial Leadership, Reporting, and Control
- Oversee the end-to-end financial closing process, ensuring timely and accurate submission of monthly, quarterly, and annual reports.
- Lead the preparation of statutory financial statements in full compliance with Italian GAAP.
- Manage the group reporting process (e.g., via systems like Cognos), delivering precise management accounts, forecasts, and budgets to headquarters.
- Conduct in-depth margin and variance analysis to identify trends, risks, and opportunities for business improvement.
- Drive the budgeting, forecasting, and strategic planning processes, providing insightful analysis to the Site Leader.
Systems, Process, and Compliance
- Ensure a robust internal control environment is maintained and documented; act as the primary owner of the internal control framework.
- Serve as the main liaison for all audit activities (external, internal, and tax), addressing findings proactively.
- Manage all tax governance, including direct and indirect tax filings, in close cooperation with Group Tax and external advisors.
- Champion process improvement and standardization; author, review, and enforce Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
- Partner with the IT team to enhance data integrity, system integration, and digital transformation, potentially leading or contributing to ERP implementation projects.
Treasury and Working Capital Management
- Implement effective credit control policies to minimize debtor days and bad debt.
- Manage cash flow forecasting and optimize working capital (including inventory, payables, and receivables).
Team Leadership and People Management
- Lead, mentor, and develop a multidisciplinary team within Finance, Shipping & Logistics, and IT.
- Define clear performance goals and objectives, conduct regular performance reviews, and manage succession planning.
- Oversee training and development, ensuring a skilled and adaptable workforce.
- Manage team resources, including approval of holidays and management of absenteeism, in line with company policy.
- Handle employee relations matters, including disciplinary and grievance procedures.
Qualifications & Experience
- Professional accounting qualification (e.g., ACA, ACCA, CIMA) is essential.
- A degree in Finance, Accounting, or Economics; a Master's degree is preferred.
- Proven track record in a senior finance management role, ideally within an international manufacturing or industrial environment.
- Expert knowledge of Italian GAAP and strong working knowledge of IFRS.
- Demonstrable experience in financial controlling, budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis.
- Strong technical skills in working capital, treasury, and credit management.
- Hands-on experience with ERP systems (e.g., IFS, SAP, Zucchetti, Cognos, EFACS, or similar).
- Full professional proficiency in both English and Italian (written and spoken).
