Work Schedule: This role is expected to align with the AU business hours (approx. 9 AM - 5 PM, Monday to Friday) for collaboration, but as a contractor, you’ll have flexibility in how you manage your time.

Who The Client Is: A well-established, family-owned civil and landscaping enterprise that has been operating in Australia for over three decades. They specialise in paving, streetscape upgrades, public domain works, and civil infrastructure projects across commercial and government sectors.

With a solid pipeline of secured work and a significant backlog of projects awaiting pricing, they are now investing in building a stable, long-term offshore estimating team to support continued growth. Role Overview: The Senior Estimator will be responsible for preparing accurate, competitive, and compliant cost estimates for civil, paving, landscaping, and public domain projects. This role plays a critical part in securing new work and supporting project delivery through strong cost control and risk assessment. 

You will work directly with leadership and project teams, handling a backlog of active tenders and ensuring pricing aligns with Australian construction standards and council requirements. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, commercially aware, and comfortable managing multiple tenders at different stages.

Key Responsibilities: 

Tendering & Estimating

  • Review and interpret drawings, specifications, and tender documentation to ensure full scope coverage
  • Prepare detailed quantity take-offs and cost estimates for materials, labour, plant, and subcontractors
  • Analyse tender addenda, RFIs, and clarifications to ensure pricing compliance
  • Develop trade packages and obtain competitive quotations from suppliers and subcontractors
  • Compile complete tender submissions, including preliminaries, methodology, and supporting documents
  • Conduct post-tender negotiations and value engineering assessments

Cost Management & Reporting

  • Maintain and update cost databases, supplier pricing, and labour rates
  • Assist project teams with variation pricing and budget adjustments
  • Identify cost risks, scope gaps, and savings opportunities

Coordination & Communication

  • Liaise with project managers, engineers, procurement teams, and site staff
  • Participate in tender handovers to ensure a smooth transition to the delivery teams
  • Communicate professionally with consultants, councils, suppliers, and subcontractors

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Minimum 2–5 years of experience in civil construction estimating (preferably in paving, civil works, or landscaping sectors).
  • Relevant tertiary qualification in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or Quantity Surveying.
  • Strong understanding of Australian construction standards, council specifications, and TfNSW requirements.
  • Proficiency in estimating software (e.g., Cubit, Buildsoft, Bluebeam, or Excel-based estimating systems).
  • Excellent analytical and numerical skills with close attention to detail.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple tenders with competing deadlines.

Desirable Attributes

  • Experience working on public domain, council, or infrastructure projects.
  • Knowledge of MW21, AS4901, and NSW Fair Trading contract frameworks.
  • Familiarity with supplier and subcontractor pricing in NSW.
  • Self-motivated, proactive, and able to work both independently and collaboratively within a team.
