About Curology:

Curology’s mission is to make effective, personalized skincare accessible. We were founded by dermatologists who believe everyone should have access to skincare products that actually work. Today, our licensed dermatology providers have helped millions of patients across all 50 states make that mission a reality.

We combine expert medical care with personalized prescription formulas and dermatologist-developed skincare essentials to deliver science-backed solutions that meet people where they are. Join us in our mission to transform skin health and enhance lives—one patient at a time.

Mission of the Role:

Leading with a player-coach mindset, the Senior Engineering Manager balances hands-on coding with leadership to deliver impact for our patients and the business. Reporting to the VP, Engineering & Data, you’ll actively contribute to our codebase while owning engineering outcomes across velocity, quality, and reliability, and growing a high-performing team accountable for delivery.

You’ll work fluently across Product, Design, Medical, Data, and in close partnership with Technical Program Managers to remove obstacles, use data to inform execution, and scale how we build. Your leadership will embody Curology’s Operating Principles—acting as one team, moving quickly with depth, and protecting trust at every touchpoint.

Requirements

Essential Functions and Impact Areas:

  • Code and Lead (Move Quickly, Think Deeply): Write production code alongside your team, while setting technical direction and ensuring thoughtful architecture. Pair with engineers, conduct code reviews, architecture reviews, and model best practices to ship high-quality features at pace.
  • Build High-Performing Teams (One Curology, One Team): Recruit, coach, and develop engineers to reach their full potential while aligning on shared outcomes. Celebrate team wins, and put mission and patients above ego.
  • Deliver with Excellence (Trust but Verify): Own engineering metrics around velocity, quality, and reliability, serving as the primary driver of team execution and outcomes. Partner closely with Technical Program Managers (TPMs), who support delivery by facilitating scrum ceremonies and providing data, insights, and KPIs around team performance. Build systems for accountability, transparency, and clear follow-through.
  • Shape Technical Strategy (Use Peripheral Vision): Partner with the Head of Engineering and Data, TPMs, and peers across Product, Design, Medical, and Data to connect the dots, align execution at scale, and drive company-wide impact
  • Foster Healthy Culture (Be Candid, Then Commit): Create an environment where engineers can surface ideas and concerns openly. Once a decision is made, drive alignment and focus to execute together.
  • Empower Innovation (Lead with Curiosity): Encourage exploration of new technologies, ask thoughtful questions, and enable your team to test and learn while staying outcome-oriented.
  • Lead with Integrity (Protect Trust at Every Touchpoint): Model integrity and rigor in every decision—whether with your team, our cross-functional partners, or our patients.
