Senior Engineer

Duties:  Draw on experience with motion planning under uncertainty and interaction with dynamic agents/environment, Model Predictive Control (MPC) and numerical optimization, robotics algorithms in localization, prediction, perception, controls for autonomous systems, data and metrics pipeline creation, Linux, Python and modern C++ software development and continuous improvement processes, and version control to lead a team responsible for the development and delivery of the core trajectory generation algorithms via numerical optimization for an autonomous vehicle system. Find the right balance between state-of-the-art algorithms and real-world constraints to develop safe and reliable AV software. Work closely with the trajectory interface and tracking teams as well as other teams including Planning, Perception, Prediction, Localization, Systems Engineering, Testing and Safety.  Lead and grow a multi-site trajectory optimization team. Deliver a 2022+ autonomous driving trajectory generation system from design, prototyping, testing, deployment to bring the commercial robo-taxi service to the public. Provide technical leadership to make consequential decisions on architectural direction, strategic investments, tactical execution and technical debt reduction. Implement/review algorithms and code. Provide feedback (technical, professional) to team members, and work with project managers to roadmap and execute plans on schedule. Apply practical and rigorous engineering methods. Hybrid office and remote work permitted. Requirements: Master’s degree in embedded systems engineering, mechanical engineering, or a closely related field plus 2 years of experience reflecting demonstrable ability in the skill sets described above. This position is eligible for employee referral programs.
