Senior Engineer
We are looking for a Senior Engineer in our Collections, Recovery & Litigation (CRL) and Investor Management (IM) team.
The CRL/IM team develops and maintains systems that make it easy for Funding Circle Borrowers to service their loans. They also own systems that manage investor data, enabling Funding Circle to efficiently manage investor relationships and provide investors with access to their investment data.
Please note, the minimum expectation for office attendance is two days per week in our central London office.
Who are we?
We’re Funding Circle. We back small businesses to succeed.
At Funding Circle, we believe the world needs small businesses. That’s why we’ve made it our mission to help them get the finance they need to grow.
With more than 15 years of expertise under our belt, we’ve built a game-changer of a platform with cutting-edge data and technology that’s reshaping the landscape of SME lending. We know that good business is about good people. So we pride ourselves on providing meaningful, human support as well as fast, hassle free processes to deliver an unbeatable customer experience.
The role
You would lead on initiatives solving problems for our internal Collections and Recoveries teams as well as borrower facing journeys that improve the experience for businesses in difficulty.
You will be working closely with the teams that use investor data, understanding how they work, their challenges and designing solutions to solve them.
You will identify ways to automate manual processes, within both Engineering and the Operations teams that you will work with.
You love to build new things but also don’t shy away from digging into a legacy codebase.
You love to work in a complex problem domain that is implemented with simple software systems.
You are a collaborator - you encourage pairing and believe that working together is smarter than working in a silo.
You are a teacher - generous with your time and expertise to teach stakeholders and our fellow engineers how to answer their own questions.
Proactively problem solving, identifying and confidently mitigating any risks, issues or control weaknesses that arise in your day-to-day.
What we’re looking for
Strong experience in Python and/or Ruby
Knowledge of Clojure desirable
Strong fundamental programming skills (data structures, algorithms)
Excellent communication skills, both written and spoken
Experience in any of microservices, Distributed Systems or Event-Driven Architectures (using Apache Kafka)
Experience of Agile, Scrum and TDD
Knowledge of Containerisation (including Kubernetes), Cloud platforms (e.g. AWS) and CI/CD
At Funding Circle we are committed to building diverse teams so please apply even if your past experience doesn’t align perfectly with the requirements.
