ASOS CREATIVE STUDIO Senior Editorial Manager 

Seniors Managers are key leadership figures in the smooth, professional and successful running of ASOS Creative Studio. You have an eye for all thing’s creative, a practical ability for implementation and a strategic mindset to deliver departmental and business goals. You are commercially and operationally aware of the balance between quality, delivery, and deadlines, and you thrive in a fast-paced, evolving environment. As one of our Senior Management Team, you will be working closely with the Leads, wider Senior Teams and multilevel stakeholders across the business. You will lead, mentor and inspire the team to deliver the best assets in the industry. You will help drive departmental efficiency, whilst thinking commercially and innovatively. You will have the ability to successfully lead a team with a creative, strategic and operational mindset.  

Key Responsibilities Overview: 

  • Team Leadership: Possess the skill, knowledge and management ability to lead the Editorial Team (with direct reports) with input from the Post Production & Editorial Lead. Ensure our creative & delivery strategies are central to the ethos of the team, using that foundation to drive excellence across all delivery outputs. Help build and implement a robust structure that ensures we leverage the best talent to deliver high quality editorial content at scale. Consistently review and update the succession plan for your downlines at all levels 

  • Evolution & Innovation: Continuously evolve our editorial delivery capabilities to ensure we are industry leaders. Drive process reviews, always seeking improvements to ensure the maximising of sales and customer engagement. Keep up to date with relevant industry innovations, being forward thinking in the testing and adoption of these 

  • Inspiration and Mentorship: Be recognised as an aspirational, innovative figure within your team and the wider department with a strong problem-solving mindset and reputation. Champion strategic team priorities, advocating for departmental alignment to drive the best results for all 

  • Delivery at scale: Lead editorial’s delivery across all BAU & projects. Ensure that every task is resourced appropriately, within budget and KPI/SLA to support the end-to-end department process. Collaborate with all relevant stakeholders to translate creative and operational briefs into well executed deliverables 

  • Future facing: Work closely with the Post Production & Editorial Lead to scope and implement the evolution of editorial, looking at ways to automate and utilise relevant AI technology 

  • Collaboration: Work collaboratively across the department and wider business, whilst forming strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders. Championing all aspects of ASOS Creative Studio in every interaction 

  • Performance and Efficiency: Ensure team performance KPIs/SLAs are met and constantly identify opportunities to improve quality, efficiency and speed to market  

  • Quality Assurance: Ensure the Editorial Team’s output is consistently best in class, whilst upholding the brand/tone of voice guidelines  

What you’ll be doing in more detail… 

  • Reporting directly into the Post Production & Editorial Lead, you will be responsible for the editorial output across .COM, CRM, social media (paid and organic) and ASOS brand and partner campaigns (including any requested supporting copy) 

  • Responsible for creating and maintaining the ASOS tone of voice guide, ensuring all business stakeholders uphold this across all touch points 

  • Ability to adapt editorial direction to best serve both menswear and womenswear customers, Geo Team territories, and for specific venture and third-party brand requests  

  • Responsible for business ad hoc editorial requests e.g. legal, tech, internal/corporate comms, crisis comms, loyalty, sustainability, naming of content franchises, trends, tech features etc 

  • Overarching final responsibility for spelling and grammar QC, brand tone of voice alignment and flagging any known legal issues/reputational risks to relevant business stakeholders across editorial output 

  • Lead ASOS Stylefeed. Ensuring there is a continual stream of relevant articles, servicing commercial and brand priorities, AMG and SEO, showcasing ASOS’ point of view in long-form format. Responsible for Stylefeed’s editorial customer engagement reporting, optimisation and feedback 

  • Mentor the Editorial Team in content concepting and ideating, ensuring brand and creative strategy alignment 

  • Responsible for all aspects of the daily delivery across the editorial workflows, ensuring you are confident with the applicable content management tools, multi-channel content publishing tools, and any team/workflow software and kit 

  • Work closely and collaboratively with the Localisation team where relevant, to ensure the seamless translation and transcreation of editorial outputs  

  • Joint holistic responsibility (with the Senior Manager & Lead Team) for the end-to-end Creative Studio operational process. Your remit will include editorial and any other relevant growth opportunities in production-post production 

  • Lead the Editorial Team to deliver best-in-class creative content, being the subject matter expert. Drive the team to stay ahead of trends and competition, making ASOS the go-to place for fashion entertainment 

  • Continually review and improve all team KPIs and SLAs, constantly identifying opportunities to improve. Ensure high performance and efficient delivery across all relevant stages of the end-to-end department delivery process 

  • Design and implement automated workflow solutions to streamline team and departmental delivery 

  • Review and implement relevant reports to appropriately manage team KPI/SLAs and measurable outputs  

  • Translate and deliver multiple creative briefs for campaigns, projects, trends and brands to deliver exciting, fashion-forward moments for our customers 

  • Be a constructive conduit for feedback. Always taking and giving feedback positively, ensuring you are solution focused and can champion change. Translating this not only for your own team, but in support of the wider management or project teams, always considering what could be improved 

  • You are a highly organised individual, who is able to multitask and prioritise as you go, remaining proactive and positive when working and taking on new tasks even if information is still in the development stages 

  • Work with internal partners and relevant 3rd party suppliers to develop our delivery and creative offering. Leverage the maximum value from all relationships 

  • Collaborate internally and externally across new mediums and tech, to deliver innovative content to our customers 

  • Collaborate with the Management and Lead Team to ensure the overall success of the department and for the wider business 

  • Conduct regular 1-2-1’s with your direct reports. Review team & personal objectives, ensuring they are supported, and their skill set is developed. Be accountable that the same is consistently applied through your downline 

  • Actively encourage team growth and development through objectives and training, ensuring the team are striving to support the ever-evolving delivery of the department strategy 

  • Lead the team to follow established processes delivering agreed creative and quality standards in line with departmental and business expectations 

  • Responsible for the hiring and onboarding of new full timers, ensuring they meet the technical and behavioural requirements. Simultaneously maintain a high-quality freelance pool to augment the team when volume requires 

  • Accountable for correct deployment of fulltime and freelance team resource to optimise the collective team skill set, including day to day management in response to absence 

  • Lead by example, encouraging the team to showcase the ASOS behaviours and values, following all company and departmental strategies with the highest levels of engagement 

  • Demonstrating excellent brand awareness by identifying areas for review, researching ideas and assessing competition to ensure we are market leaders 

  • Responsible for developing and implementing your leadership style and communication in line with ASOS Behaviours policy 

  • Input into team, departmental and relevant external meetings with key stakeholders 

  • Overseeing departmental technology software and hardware development and launches 

  • Deliver projects to support innovation, the department/business strategies and any other ad hoc tasks and projects defined by the Post Production & Editorial Lead or Senior Leadership Team 

  • Deputise for the Post Production & Editorial Lead when required. Consistently applying your skill set and judgment to cover the roles and responsibilities, whilst collaborating with the Lead team to align decision making

  • Experience in a senior Fashion Editorial, Fashion Journalism, Fashion Communications, or similar role
  • Passionate about fashion and editorial content whilst keeping up to date with current affairs, social trends and topics that will interest our customer base
  • Experience managing a team of writers, editors or content specialists
  • Subbing experience desirable
  • Demonstrated ability to own, maintain and enforce a brand’s editorial tone of voice and editorial standards
  • Demonstrated ability to oversee large‑scale multi‑territory editorial outputs across multiple channels 
  • Experience managing and refining editorial workflows within a fast‑paced environment
  • Familiarity with CMS platforms, multi-channel publishing tools, workflow systems and analytic/engagement reporting tools
  • Strong ability to work proactively whilst also fostering cross-functional relationships and collaboration
  • Strong attention to detail with excellent ability to spot errors and to think critically about context and nuance for different audiences
  • Confident communicating with and presenting to senior stakeholders
  • Experience (or interest) in AI‑assisted content creation, workflow automation, and emerging editorial technologies/platforms
