We are looking for an individual with passion for accounting who will embrace continuous improvement, and will drive themselves and those around them to perform successfully in a fast-paced ever-changing environment.

This role will report into the Chief Accounting Officer. The role will initially oversee the Senior Manager of Revenue Accounting and the Director of Accounting Operations which covers A/R and A/P.

In addition to ensuring accurate and timely revenue reporting, this leader will architect and scale a best in class revenue accounting function to support 1Password’s next stage of growth. This includes designing a scalable revenue infrastructure capable of supporting increasing deal complexity, global expansion, and future external reporting requirements. This is a highly visible role as it requires frequent interactions with stakeholders across the company including Sales, Legal, Financial Operations, Data, and other departments.

The ideal candidate will bring a strong point of view on end-to-end order to cash strategy, driving alignment across Revenue Accounting, Financial Operations, Sales Operations, and Systems to ensure scalable, efficient, and customer centric execution.

This is a remote opportunity within Canada and the US.

What we're looking for:

  • 10+ years of progressive accounting experience, including senior leadership roles within high growth SaaS or technology companies; CPA, or equivalent, required.

  • An understanding of revenue, related technical accounting concepts in accordance with the U.S. GAAP and complex SaaS revenue models

  • Deep understanding for internal and external financial reporting needs

  • Proven track-record of running efficient monthly close processes, handling internal and external audits, and managing auditor relationships

  • Excellent people leadership skills

  • AI forward thinking with ability to leverage tools and agents to enable a more efficient accounting function without sacrificing accuracy

  • Ability to inspire and recognize the team while working under tight deadlines and managing multiple competing priorities

  • Ability to set standards, multi-task and work with minimal supervision while adhering to essential deadlines

  • Ability to lead problem-solving efforts while maintaining attention to detail and accuracy

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to demonstrate teamwork skills

  • Advanced expertise in accounting systems, ability to understand problems, envision solutions and influence teams towards right systematic or manual solutions

  • Experience with any data visualization tools, such as Looker, is considered a significant asset

  • Proven experience leading revenue accounting within a high growth SaaS organization at scale, with demonstrated success scaling processes through rapid growth.

  • Comfortable with ambiguity and unpredictability

What you can expect:

  • Build, mentor, and develop a high performing revenue accounting and accounting operations leadership team, fostering a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and operational excellence.

  • Ensure revenue processes and controls are designed to scale with the company’s growth, reducing manual intervention and increasing automation over time.

  • Assess public company readiness of existing processes in the order-to-cash and related business cycles; devise roadmap for improvements wherever needed

  • Lead the development of a long-term roadmap to modernize revenue systems and reporting capabilities in partnership with Data and Business Systems teams.

  • Partner with Sales Operations, Sales, and Legal to provide input and thought-leadership around sales commission structuring which should promote healthy deal practices

  • Set DSO and DPO targets and ensure existence of adequate plans to meet them and exceed them

  • Serve as a strategic advisor to Sales and Legal on complex deal structuring, ensuring alignment between commercial objectives and revenue recognition requirements under US GAAP

  • Provide strategic advice on future global expansion of the B2B business through understanding and analysis of revenue-related data and trends; amend processes, as needed, to support our growing global operations

  • Collaborate with members of the FP&A team to ensure alignment in understanding for how various transactions are accounted for.

  • Advocate for a positive customer experience while ensuring that policies and procedures are properly followed.

  • Lead the team through analysis of revenue-related trends

  • Partner with Data and FP&A teams to solidify definitions and calculations of non-GAAP revenue-related metrics, such as ARR

  • Help deliver a positive employee experience for all stakeholders who interact with Revenue Accounting including Sales, Sales Operations, Legal, and others.

USA-based roles only: The annual base salary for this role is between $208,000 USD and $312,000 USD, plus immediate participation in 1Password's benefits program (health, dental, 401k and many others), utilization of our generous paid time off, an equity grant and, where applicable, participation in our incentive programs.

Canada-based roles only: The annual base salary for this role is between $190,000 CAD and $285,000 CAD, plus immediate participation in 1Password’s generous benefits program (health, dental, RRSP and many others), utilization of our generous paid time off, an equity grant and, where applicable, participation in our incentive programs.
