About the Role

The Coupang Ads team is looking for a Senior Director of Product Design to lead our UXD and UXR teams. As a core part of the ads leadership team you will work with your counterparts in product, engineering and data science to identify problems, strategize solutions and priorities and help bring products and features to market that are intuitive to use and easy to understand. 

Key Responsibilities

• Foster strong collaboration with product, engineering and design to deliver core insights through research and oversee execution of multiple projects effectively to ensure urgent forward progress and learning 
• Attract, grow and retain top talent. Scale and equip the team for success
• Build and manage a talented team of designers and researchers
• Shape the product roadmap by working closely with your peers to define the initiatives required to scale our business and delight our customers
• Create a culture that reflects our leadership principles - taking on audacious goals, systematically identifying and eliminating bottlenecks and tradeoffs and wowing our advertisers and publishers 

Key Experience 

• 12+ years of experience in Product design or Product research
• 5+ years of leadership experience directly managing and leading teams 
• A history of successfully partnering with Product, Engineering, Data Science and sales to solve hard business problems 
• Strong understanding of user research methodologies, usability principles, and data analysis techniques.
• Excellent leadership and communication skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate cross-functional teams.
• Proficiency in design tools such as Figma, Sketch, Adobe Creative Suite, and prototyping software.

Traits and Competencies 

• Able to operate autonomously to manage team and its projects in a fast-paced environment and remain focused amidst frequently changing requirements.
• Able to pitch and hold in depth discussions with the C-level stakeholders.

Skills and Qualifications 

• Bachelor's degree in Graphic Design, Interaction Design, Industrial Design, HCI, Computer Science, Psychology, Ethnography or equivalent practical experience; Master’s degree preferred.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
• Korean language skills are a plus.
