Senior Director, Field Reimbursement and Patient Access

Position Summary:

The Senior Director, Field Reimbursement & Patient Services, is a strategic and operational leader responsible for driving patient access through field-based reimbursement and support functions. This role oversees both the Field Reimbursement Managers (FRMs) and the Director of Patient Support, ensuring patients and providers receive timely, compliant, and effective support for claims submissions, prior authorizations, benefit verifications, appeals, and financial assistance.

The Senior Director will develop and implement key performance metrics to monitor and optimize the effectiveness of FRMs and the Patient Support Hub, ensuring high-quality service delivery, operational efficiency, and alignment with commercial objectives. This individual will collaborate cross-functionally with Market Access, Sales, Managed Markets, Medical Affairs, and Hub teams to design and execute a cohesive access strategy that supports product launches and lifecycle management.

Success in this role requires expertise in the payer landscape, reimbursement pathways, and patient support programs, combined with strong leadership, analytical capabilities, and the ability to drive continuous improvement in patient access and field reimbursement operations.

Responsibilities:

• Develop and execute the integrated strategy for the Patient Support Program and Field Reimbursement function, ensuring seamless support for patient access and meaningful provider and patient engagement
• Build and lead a high-performing field reimbursement team and patient support team to proactively support providers and patients in overcoming access and reimbursement challenges
• Align field access strategies with brand priorities, broader Patient Services goals, and corporate objectives to drive measurable outcomes
• Serve as a thought leader and advisor to senior leadership on trends, challenges, and opportunities in patient access and reimbursement
• Provide leadership, coaching, and development to direct reports
• Establish clear performance metrics and ensure consistent, high quality, execution across all field team members and patient support services
• Ensure all activities comply with all regulatory, legal, and compliance standards
• Partner cross-functionally with Sales, Market Access, Medical Affairs, Compliance, and other stakeholders to ensure alignment
• Implement systems, processes, and tools to optimize team effectiveness and efficiency
• Represent the organization with key external stakeholders including healthcare providers, patient advocacy groups, and pharmacies
• Identify insights from the field and translate them into actionable strategies to enhance patient access and support

Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree required; advanced degree (MBA, MPH, NP, PharmD or related field) strongly preferred
• 8+ years of progressive experience in field reimbursement, patient services, market access, field sales, or related functions within the biotech/pharmaceutical industry. Field reimbursement experience is required
• 5+ years proven success managing and leading national field teams, preferably across both provider and patient facing teams
• Demonstrated ability to develop and execute field strategies that support brand objectives, drive patient outcomes and organizational impact
• Strong leadership skills with experience managing and developing high-performing teams
• Deep knowledge of reimbursement processes, access challenges, HUB services, clinical education, and patient support services
• Excellent communication, collaboration, and influencing skills with the ability to work effectively across internal teams and external stakeholders
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills to navigate complex access and operational challenges
• Expected field and home office travel up to 50%
