Senior Director, Data Strategy and Operations

This is a senior leadership position that will have exposure across the entire business, influencing the vision and implementation of our Data strategy and in turn, helping our customers plan their perfect trip, and apply the latest advances in Generative AI technologies.

The Head of Data Strategy and Operations is a key leadership role responsible for developing and executing a comprehensive data strategy to drive business objectives. This role involves partnering with key business stakeholders and all data teams including AI/ML, Analytics, Data Engineering and Data Platform, plus other key partners like Engineering to ensure the organization leverages data effectively to make informed decisions.

The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of data functions and business operations, coupled with strong leadership and strategic planning skills.

What you’ll do:

You bring a minimum of 10 years experience in leadership spanning Data Science, Machine Learning,  AI, and software engineering. Data Strategy Development:

• Develop and articulate a holistic data strategy that aligns with the organization's overall business strategy and goals.
• Define the vision for data management, data governance, and analytics to drive innovation and create a competitive advantage.

Data Analytics and Insights:

• Lead the development of analytics frameworks to derive actionable insights from data.
• Collaborate with business units to identify key performance indicators (KPIs) and implement analytics solutions that drive business value.

Operational Excellence:

• Streamline and optimize data-related processes and workflows for efficiency.
• Establish and enforce data governance policies and standards to ensure data quality, security, and compliance.
• Work closely with relevant stakeholders to define and implement data stewardship and ownership frameworks.

Performance Metrics and KPIs:

• Define key performance indicators (KPIs) and metrics to measure the effectiveness of the data strategy.
• Establish processes for regular monitoring and reporting on the performance of data initiatives.

Team Leadership and Development:

• Build and lead a high-performing team of data professionals, including technical product and program managers
• Foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous learning within the team.

Stakeholder Collaboration and Communication:

• Collaborate with executives, business leaders, and cross-functional teams to understand their data needs and strategic objectives.
• Communicate the value of data-driven decision-making across the organization.
• Act as a trusted advisor, providing guidance on how data can be leveraged to achieve business outcomes.

Innovation and Emerging Technologies:

• Stay abreast of industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in data management and analytics.
• Identify opportunities to leverage new technologies and methodologies to enhance the organization's data capabilities.

Skills and Experience:

• Education: Bachelor's or advanced degree in data science, business analytics, computer science, or a related field.
• Experience: Proven experience in developing and implementing data strategies in complex organizational environments.
• Strategic Thinking: Strong strategic thinking and problem-solving skills, with the ability to align data initiatives with business goals.
• Leadership Skills: Demonstrated ability to lead and influence at a senior level, collaborate with diverse stakeholders, and drive results in a dynamic environment with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Industry Knowledge: In-depth knowledge of data management, data governance, and emerging trends in data strategy and analytics.
• Change Management: Proven experience in driving cultural and organizational change towards a more data-centric mindset.
• Communication: Excellent communication and presentation skills with the ability to convey complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
