The Role:

As a Senior DevOps Engineer with a strong Windows and Chef background, you will support and modernize large-scale Windows environments through automation and configuration management. This role has a heavy emphasis on Chef cookbook development for Windows systems and PowerShell-based automation. You will work closely with client engineering teams to reduce a significant backlog of infrastructure and configuration work. This is a hands-on role suited for someone comfortable operating deep in Windows automation and configuration frameworks.

Key Responsibilities:

Design, build, and maintain automation for Windows server environments.
Develop, maintain, and enhance Chef cookbooks with a strong focus on Windows nodes.
Use PowerShell scripting to automate system configuration, patching, and operational tasks.
Troubleshoot and resolve configuration drift and deployment issues in Windows environments.
Partner with client teams to prioritize and execute against a large DevOps backlog.
Improve reliability, consistency, and repeatability of Windows infrastructure.
Document automation patterns, standards, and operational runbooks.

Requirements:

4+ years of experience in DevOps, Systems Engineering, or Infrastructure Engineering roles.
Strong hands-on experience managing Windows Server environments.
Deep experience with Chef, specifically Chef cookbook development for Windows.
Advanced PowerShell scripting skills for automation and system management.
Solid understanding of Windows services, registry, networking, and security concepts.
Experience working through large backlogs in complex enterprise environments.
Strong communication skills and ability to work directly with distributed client teams.

Nice to Have:

Experience with other configuration management tools such as Ansible or Puppet.
Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines supporting infrastructure automation.
Exposure to cloud platforms such as AWS or Azure.
Experience supporting hybrid or enterprise Windows environments.
Background in infrastructure modernization initiatives.

Education & Certifications:

Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or equivalent experience.
Relevant certifications are a plus but not required.
