Responsibilities:
As a member of DevOps team you will be responsible for the entire lifecycle of the infrastructure and tooling within Skillz:

• Strong Kubernetes, Terraform, and AWS expertise to build, secure, and manage scalable cloud infrastructure.
• Implement application-level security through static code analysis, vulnerability scanning, and secure coding practices.
• Design and manage secure infrastructure including IAM, networking, container security, and environment hardening.
• Integrate automated security checks into CI/CD pipelines to ensure continuous compliance and safe deployments.
• Monitor, identify, and remediate vulnerabilities across applications and infrastructure with quick incident response.

Key Competencies

• Programming & Automation: Strong in Golang or Python for automating infrastructure, CI/CD, and security workflows.
• Kubernetes & Container Security: Expertise in securing and managing containerized workloads, K8s APIs, RBAC, PodSecurity, Ingress/Egress, and Istio service mesh.
• Cloud & Infrastructure Security: In-depth knowledge of AWS/GCP, including IAM, KMS, WAF, and network segmentation.
• CI/CD & DevSecOps: Experience embedding SAST, SCA, DAST, and IaC scanning tools into CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins, GitHub Actions, ArgoCD).
• Vulnerability & Runtime Security: Skilled in Trivy, Checkov, Falco, compliance, and runtime detection.
• Communication & Collaboration: Clear in articulating security challenges and solutions across engineering and leadership teams.
• Operational Excellence: Drives improvements in SLAs, MTTR, and security KPIs through automation and proactive monitoring.
• Continuous Learning: Up-to-date with OWASP, NIST, CIS, and modern DevSecOps practices; promotes a shift-left security culture

Preferred Qualifications:

• BS in Computer Science or related technical field, or equivalent practical experience
• 4+ years of industry experience designing and implementing successful large scale infrastructure on public clouds (AWS)
• 3+ years of Kubernetes + Gitops experience, managing and operating containerized applications/systems in production
• Proven ability to integrate and manage SAST, SCA, DAST, and IaC scanning tools (e.g., SonarQube, Snyk, Checkov, Trivy) within Jenkins / GitHub Actions / ArgoCD pipelines.
• Experience in securing microservices and containerized workloads, implementing PodSecurity, RBAC, NetworkPolicies, and enforcing mTLS / Istio controls across multiple ingress points.
• In-depth understanding of IAM, KMS, VPC segmentation, WAF, CloudTrail, GuardDuty, and security posture management tools.
• Experience with Cloud-Native Continuous Integration/Deployment (CI/CD) frameworks (ArgoCD, Github Actions)
• Experience implementing policy-as-code frameworks (OPA, Kyverno, Conftest) and automating SOX / PCI / ISO 27001 control validation within CI/CD.
• Have the ability to work in a dynamic agile development environment, as members of the team play a role in the entire life cycle of development.
• Ability to debug complex issues across build pipelines, Kubernetes environments, and cloud resources with precision and speed.
