We’re looking for multiple Senior DevOps Engineers to join our support team, playing a key role in maintaining and improving critical services. In this role, you’ll take ownership of complex incident resolution, support core infrastructure operations, and ensure the smooth running of BAU activities across your assigned services.

You’ll be trusted to operate in a fast-paced, cloud-first environment, working within ITIL-aligned processes while contributing to continuous improvement. This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys solving challenging problems, taking real ownership, and being part of an on-call rota that supports high-impact systems.

Requirements

Responsibilities

  • Own the resolution of complex L2/L3 incidents escalated from junior engineers
  • Perform BAU operations — including patching, certificate renewals, secret rotation, and dependency updates
  • Contribute to root cause analysis and ongoing problem management
  • Maintain and improve runbooks and operational documentation
  • Support change and release management processes
  • Participate in an on-call rota, including out-of-hours incident response
  • Mentor mid-level and associate engineers within the team

Must-Haves

  • Strong hands-on AWS experience in an operational/support environment
  • Solid understanding of ITIL practices — incident, problem, and change management
  • Experience working in on-call and out-of-hours support rotations
  • Comfortable working from and improving runbooks and operational procedures
  • Experience with infrastructure-as-code (Terraform or equivalent)

The below nice-to-have skills represent a number of specialist areas within the team. Depending on where your experience best aligns, you’ll be placed into the most suitable role. You’re not expected to have experience across all of these areas—strength in just one is absolutely sufficient.

Nice-to-Haves — Role Variants

  • Aurora/RDS, Redshift, Lambda, Glue (Data Services)
  • API Gateway, load balancing, high-availability infrastructure patterns (APIM/Geo)
  • PostgreSQL administration and query optimisation (Database Operations)
  • React, Node.js, or modern front-end tooling (Front End)

Benefits

  • 25 days Annual Leave (plus bank holidays)
  • An additional day of paid leave for celebrations
  • 1 additional day of holiday after 2 years' service (26 days total) and another 2 days after 5 years (28 days total)
  • Monthly Wellness Allowance
  • Annual Learning and Development Allowance
  • Paid time off for Life Events
  • Matched Employer Contributed Pension (5%)
  • Life assurance based on 4 x your salary
  • Access to an Employee Assistance Programme
  • Enhanced Family Leave
  • Enhanced company sick pay
  • A range of optional Salary Sacrifice benefits (inc EV Scheme, Home and Tech, Cycle to Work and Pension)
  • Exciting calendar of Burendo social events and activities
