Let's talk about the role and the team:

This role will be reporting to the Software Services Manager, the successful candidate will be part of the Software Services team, which is responsible for designing and managing the infrastructure for Cyara’s Voice Assure and testRTC products. We are looking for a highly qualified engineer to oversee our transition to Kubernetes. We expect you to have a deep understanding in building and deploying Kubernetes, and significant experience in at least one of: infrastructure, Linux, scripting, and software engineering.

Let's talk about the role responsibilities

When it comes to technology, we expect you to have extensive experience in a few of the technologies we use:

• Kubernetes: We are in the process of transitioning our core infrastructure to Kubernetes.  We have a well-architected deployment framework built on AWS EKS, Terraform and Helm, and you would be responsible for continuing to build and maintain our cluster deployments.  Experience in designing, building and monitoring Kubernetes clusters is a must.
• Containers with Docker and Podman: A common task is to migrate legacy applications deployed in virtual machines, and upgrade them to run smoothly on containers. The main thing here for us is that you understand container architecture, and best practices when it comes to building, and running containers including: storage, networking, security, and maintenance.
• Infrastructure as code: We use tools such as Terraform and Ansible to automate tasks that are closer to hardware, such as deploying in real servers and in cloud providers
• CI/CD: We have a well crafted pipeline for software development that moves code in the many stages between development and production. We maintain the pipeline, and we are constantly improving it. Experience with Jenkins, GitLab CI/CD, and other similar tools will be greatly appreciated
• Linux servers: We make heavy use of containers, however we also maintain our own servers, and for that we have our own stateless Linux distribution. Experience with enterprise Linux distributions, and with stateless distributions (i.e CoreOS) would be nice.
• Troubleshooting: we are also responsible for fixing things when they stop working so investigation skills are highly appreciated

We are a small team, and we are after engineers who can manage themselves and who are comfortable taking ownership of complex tasks. Specifically, we’re looking for candidates with the following traits and experiences:

• Forward thinking: We’re looking for someone who likes to innovate and who can foresee opportunities and challenges before they start to “solve” problems.
• Problem solving attitude: We need someone who enjoys actually getting things done.
• Infrastructure experience: We’re looking for someone who has learned through real world deployments to manage large scale, highly availability complex infrastructure
• Scripting experience: Do you have fond memories of automating toil with bash or python scripts?  This is what we’re looking for!
