Role Overview:
We are seeking a Senior DevOps Engineer with deep expertise in GitHub Actions and CI/CD automation to lead the design and evolution of our delivery pipelines. This role is ideal for a technical leader who has progressed beyond basic scripting and now architects secure, scalable, and resilient DevOps ecosystems.
You will play a critical role in enhancing developer experience by building standardized, reusable automation frameworks that move code from commit to production with speed, reliability, and security. Acting as a bridge between development and operations teams, you will serve as the GitHub CI/CD Subject Matter Expert (SME) across the organization.
What you will do:
CI/CD & Automation
Design, develop, and maintain advanced CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions.
Build reusable workflows, composite actions, and templates to standardize CI/CD practices across multiple repositories.
Implement workflow optimizations including matrix builds, concurrency controls, caching, and artifact management.
Infrastructure as Code (IaC)
Automate cloud infrastructure provisioning using Terraform for AWS and/or Azure.
Integrate infrastructure workflows directly into GitHub Actions pipelines.
Maintain version-controlled, auditable, and scalable infrastructure configurations.
DevSecOps & Compliance
Embed security-by-default practices into CI/CD pipelines.
Implement automated SAST, DAST, dependency scanning (Dependabot), and license checks.
Manage secrets securely using GitHub Secrets, OIDC, and cloud-native secret stores.
Enforce environment protection rules, approval gates, and deployment policies.
Runner & Platform Management
Design, scale, and maintain self-hosted GitHub runners, including Actions Runner Controller (ARC) on Kubernetes.
Optimize runner performance, cost, and security for high-volume build environments.
Troubleshoot pipeline failures and infrastructure issues across environments.
Collaboration, Standards & Mentorship
Define and enforce CI/CD standards, YAML best practices, and branching strategies.
Act as a mentor and technical advisor to developers and junior DevOps engineers.
Partner with engineering, security, and platform teams to improve delivery workflows.
Evaluate and introduce new DevOps tools and best practices aligned with business goals.
Qualifications & Skills:
6–8 years of professional experience in DevOps, SRE, or Software Engineering roles.
Strong hands-on experience with GitHub Actions, including complex event triggers and workflow filtering, matrix builds and concurrency management, custom JavaScript-based or Docker-based GitHub Actions, GitHub Environments, approval workflows, and OIDC-based authentication.
Strong proficiency in Python for automation and tooling.
Working knowledge of shell scripting (Bash).
Strong experience with Docker and Kubernetes, including hands-on exposure to managed platforms such as EKS, AKS, or GKE.
Solid experience with AWS and/or Azure services used in CI/CD workflows.
Expert-level knowledge of Git, including branching strategies, hooks, and GitFlow or Trunk-based development.
Preferred Skills:
Experience migrating legacy CI/CD platforms (Jenkins, CircleCI, GitLab CI) to GitHub Actions.
Familiarity with GitHub Enterprise Server vs. GitHub Cloud architectures and limitations.
Experience building internal developer platforms or golden CI/CD pipelines.
Certifications such as:
AWS Certified DevOps Engineer – Professional
GitHub Actions or GitHub Administration Certification
