Your Opportunity at ARC’TERYX:
As a Senior Designer – Inline Innovation, you design and develop future-focused apparel concepts, from ideation through to commercialization. You partner with teams across Inline Apparel Design and Advanced Concepts to deliver comprehensive product solutions that are aligned with Arc’teryx design philosophies. You concept and build projects that may be outside of Arc’teryx current expertise and current know-how, and you push existing product categories beyond where the industry is today. You will work ahead of regular product timelines, researching, gathering insights, opportunities, and creating breakthrough ideas that fall within our five-year strategy.
Key Products You’ll Be Designing For:
· Inline innovation concepts for Men’s and Women’s
· Future-focused apparel; knitwear, underwear, etc.
· Early silhouette and fit design that support the ever-changing needs of activity-specific athletes
This role is based out of our North Vancouver office and is open to hybrid remote work. Candidates must be eligible to work in Canada.

If you were in the Senior Designer – Inline Innovation role now, here are some of the core activities you would be doing:
Testing out new and innovative materials that can be applied to apparel product solutions
Exploring new product opportunities beyond Arc’teryx’s current offering
Scouting new technologies, factories, manufacturing processes and materials to help advance our product assortment
Communicating compelling concepts visually, both physically as well as through 2D/3D digital assets
Leading complex and challenging projects with cross-functional teams
Supporting Inline Innovation projects through developing unique and resolved approaches to product solutions, patterning and prototyping
Staying at the forefront of new technologies and manufacturing techniques, implementing them into future products
Creating innovative technology platforms that underpin product categories
Collaborating closely with other Designers to bring new and better design solutions, such as new technologies, construction techniques, features, etc.
Building partial or complete concept prototypes to allow for solutions to be reviewed, tested and validated
Collecting insights through observing, product testing, research and working closely with athletes/end users
Testing various materials to assess suitability for construction techniques and end uses, providing recommendations on final selection, diligently documenting information and results throughout the process
Designing for a variety of product categories, from wovens, insulation, knitwear, cut+sew knits, etc.
Contributing to the future of Arc’teryx product circularity initiatives and goals
Are you our next Senior Designer – Inline Innovation?
You have a Degree in Apparel Design, Textile Design, Industrial Design or equivalent experience, with a minimum of 8+ years’ hands-on experience designing products and 2+ years leading a team or process
You bring your curiosity and passion for product to imagine and build innovative, relevant, and resolved designs
You are an innovative problem solver compelled to figure out new solutions and able to collaboratively partner cross-functionally
You are a conceptual thinker able to visually communicate ideas efficiently and effectively
You have extensive experience with a variety of materials (technical wovens, cut and sew knits, etc.) and manufacturing processes such as seam-sealing, lamination, down and/or synthetic insulation.
You have advanced knowledge, skill and ability in mentoring others on processes, patterning, sewing, and construction, with advanced technical and creative skills to pattern and prototype new products
You have a relationship with, and knowledge of our core sports and you deeply understand the end-user needs of these athletes
You are an excellent team player with the ability to take direction, work with minimal supervision
You have excellent planning, organizational, problem solving and decision-making skills
You are technically proficient with 8 years’ experience using Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, and/or CLO3D, Gerber, or equivalent pattern software
You have excellent planning, organizational, problem solving and decision-making skills
You are proactive in identifying the root cause of issues, seeking the best (sometimes not the easiest) solutions with an unwavering commitment to do what is right
You remain highly flexible and adaptable when faced with ambiguity
