Senior Design Engineer - FEA Simulation

POSITION GOAL: 

Accountable for completion of Engineering design tasks and projects from concept to implementation in production. This will include all related design activities, calculations, communications, drawings and bill of material. Reports directly to the applicable Engineering Group Leader.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: 

• Completes Engineering design tasks and project assignments which support production activities.
• Coordinates own tasks to ensure schedule and dates are met considering vendor and production lead times. Includes maintaining task status and recording time speed on each task.
• Creation of Engineering designs that meet customer specifications, Technical Summaries, other contract documents and ensure designs are within manufacturing abilities.
• Performs Engineering calculations and analysis to ensure compliance with design criteria and all applicable regulation.
• Completes controlled testing of components and installations in order to meet contractual obligations, ensure product reliability and verify component fit.
• Completes Engineering drawings and release documents in accordance with Engineering procedures.
• Supervises and assists Designer/Drafts persons on tasks are required.
• Provides Engineering support to Production, Quality Assurance, Customer Service Support, and other departments as required.
• Interacts with vendors and customers on design related issues. Ensures that where applicable there are documents of vendor approval on new installations or applications.
• Checks Engineering Documents, Instructions to Service, Shop Floor Instructions and other documents as authorized.

Requirements

• Registered Professional Engineer with a minimum of 4 years of experience
• Minimum 4 years of design‑related experience
• Knowledge aligned with the essential design functions of the role
• Ability to use computers, calculators, and other job‑related equipment
• Strong skills in Unigraphics, AutoCAD, and FEA
• Strong teamwork and communication abilities
• Ability to work independently
• Travel is required up to 2%
