Senior Database Engineer - SQL Server

Gaming Innovation Group is a leading iGaming technology company, providing solutions, products and services to iGaming Operators. We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Senior SQL Server Database Engineer to manage and support our Microsoft SQL Server database environments. The ideal candidate will be responsible for the design, implementation, maintenance, and performance tuning of SQL Server databases across development, testing, and production environments. This role requires a deep understanding of SQL Server architecture, high availability, disaster recovery, and performance optimization techniques.


Responsabilities:

  • Database Administration: Install, configure, and manage SQL Server (2016 and above).
  • Performance Tuning: Optimize database performance using tools such as Query Store, Profiler, DMVs, Extended Events, as well as optimise queries.
  • HA/DR: Implement and manage HA solutions like AlwaysOn, log shipping, replication, and failover clustering.
  • Security: Implement and enforce database security with access controls, encryption, and auditing.
  • Backup & Recovery: Develop and manage backup strategies and ensure adherence to RTO/RPO targets.
  • Monitoring & Maintenance: Use monitoring tools to ensure database health.
  • Automation: Develop PowerShell scripts and SQL jobs to automate tasks.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with other teams to troubleshoot issues, and provide database expertise.
  • Documentation: Maintain detailed documentation and adhere to best practices and company policies.

Requirements

    • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT, or equivalent experience.
    • 5+ years as a SQL Server DBA.
    • Deep expertise with SQL Server 2016 and above, including installation and configuration, T-SQL, performance tuning, indexing, and execution plans.
    • Proven experience with enterprise-level HA/DR implementations.
    • Microsoft certifications (e.g., MCSE) are a plus
    • Familiarity with cloud-based databases (e.g., Azure SQL, AWS RDS) is a plus
