Job Summary: The incumbent will be responsible for building sophisticated models to generate deep user insights, enhancing our understanding of platform users. This understanding will be crucial for delivering hyper-personalized content and highly relevant advertisements. The work will involve gathering various user attributes and developing predictive models for key demographics (e.g., gender, age), computing an overall user score, and defining user preferences.

The Foundations team ensures that every user touchpoint with Hotstar is fast, stable, and secure. From cutting app startup time to scaling for unpredictable LIVE spikes, we build the core infra and platforms that power all of JioHotstar. We own Identity, Performance, CRM infra, design systems, and cross-platform consistency—enabling every other team to build boldly and ship reliably.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Analyze large-scale user behavior and metadata to uncover actionable insights and build impactful models
Design, develop, and deploy models and analytical pipelines for user segmentation, behavior prediction, churn analysis, and causal inference to generate actionable user insights
Integrate models into production systems ensuring low-latency, high-accuracy performance at scale
Collaborate with engineers, product managers, designers, and data scientists to define interest graph & user preferences goals and drive feature impact across user journeys
Develop robust A/B test frameworks, analyze experiments, and drive iteration based on performance and user engagement
Actively monitor model performance, detect data drift, and refine strategies to improve long-term quality
Leverage LLMs and embeddings to improve personalization for missing user data for new users, and existing
Present technical strategies and results to cross-functional stakeholders and leadership.
SKILLS & ATTRIBUTES FOR SUCCESS:
Proven experience in data science and machine learning, preferably in personalization, recommendation systems, or user insights and behavior analysis
Strong proficiency in Python, SQL, and relevant data science libraries (Pandas, Scikit-learn, TensorFlow, PyTorch, etc.)
Expertise in building and deploying machine learning models into production systems
Experience with big data technologies (e.g., Hadoop, Spark) and cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Google Cloud)
Deep understanding of statistical analysis, machine learning, data mining, and predictive modeling techniques
Should be comfortable leveraging LLMs and internals
Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to translate business problems into data science solutions
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present complex information to non-technical stakeholders
Preferred education and experience:
Bachelors/Masters in Data Science, Statistics, Computer Science, Mathematics, or a related field with 4-7 years of experience in data science
