Senior Data Platform Engineer, Insights & Reporting

AI overview

Architect and scale the unified data backbone for Doxel’s customer-facing intelligence by integrating diverse construction-domain data sources into a reliable data warehouse.
Construction is the 2nd largest industry in the world (4x the size of SaaS!). But unlike software (with observability platforms such as AppDynamics and Datadog), construction teams lack automated feedback loops to help projects stay on schedule and on budget.  Without this observability, construction wastes a whopping $3T per year because glitches aren’t detected fast enough to recover. Doxel AI exists to bring computer vision to construction, so the industry can deliver what society needs to thrive. From hospitals to data centers, from foreman to VPs of construction, teams use Doxel to make better decisions everyday. In fact, Doxel has contributed to the construction of the facilities that provide many of the products and services you use everyday. We have classic computer vision, deep learning ML object detection, a low-latency 3D three.js web app, a complex data pipeline powering it all in the background. We’re building out new workflows, analytics dashboards, and forecasting engines.  We’re at an exciting stage of scale as we build upon our growing market momentum. Our software is trusted by Shell Oil, Genentech, HCA healthcare, Kaiser, Turner, Layton and several others. Join us in bringing AI to construction! The Role As a Senior Data Warehouse Engineer, Insights & Reporting, you will architect and scale the unified data backbone that powers Doxel’s customer-facing intelligence. Your mission is to integrate a wide range of construction-domain data sources—including manpower and labor logs, material delivery and consumption data, equipment utilization, project schedules, weather and environmental conditions, IoT sensors, robotics systems, drone captures, and Doxel’s own computer vision outputs—into a single, comprehensive, trusted data warehouse that becomes the authoritative system of record for construction performance. You will design the data models, pipelines, and integration frameworks that transform these diverse physical-world inputs into clean, reliable structures that fuel actionable insights, predictive analytics, and automated recommendations for Doxel’s customers. Your work will directly enhance how project teams identify schedule risks early, optimize labor and materials, anticipate delays, and make fast, data-driven decisions on real-world construction sites. This role is about creating intelligence at scale for one of the world’s largest and most operationally complex industries. If you thrive on unifying fragmented datasets into predictive, insight-generating systems—this is a rare opportunity to drive meaningful impact across the infrastructure that powers society. What You’ll Do
  • Architect, build, and scale Doxel’s enterprise data warehouse using tools like Snowflake, Databricks, Redshift and BigQuery.
  • Integrate diverse construction-related datasets (labor, materials, schedules, equipment, weather, IoT/robotics/drones, CV outputs) into unified analytical models.
  • Design and maintain robust ELT/ETL pipelines using general data pipeline technologies (batch, streaming, orchestration, transformation).
  • Develop dimensional models, semantic layers, and data marts that power predictive and customer-facing insights.
  • Build and manage integrations using platforms like Fivetran, Segment, MuleSoft, and other equivalent tools.
  • Establish strong standards for data quality, validation, observability, governance, and lineage.
  • Continuously optimize warehouse performance, cost efficiency, and data lifecycle management.
  • Advance Doxel’s evolution toward a centralized system of record powering analytics, forecasting, and risk prediction.
  • Collaborate with engineering to ensure efficient data flows from computer vision, robotics, and field-capture pipelines.
  • Uphold best practices and mentor other engineers in data modeling, integration, and warehouse architecture.
  • What You Bring to the Team
  • 8+ years of experience in data engineering, data warehousing, or analytics engineering roles.
  • Hands-on experience with modern data warehousing technologies like Snowflake or Databricks.
  • Mastery of SQL, analytical modeling, schema design, and query optimization.
  • Experience working with integration platforms like Fivetran, Segment, MuleSoft, or equivalents.
  • Strong familiarity with general data pipeline technologies (batch, streaming, orchestration, transformation) like Spark, Kafka, Airflow, and dbt .
  • Proficiency with cloud infrastructure like AWS, GCP, or Azure.
  • Proven track record developing ELT pipelines fueling medallion architecture in cloud-native
  • Proven track record building scalable, reliable pipelines for large, diverse datasets.
  • Experience working with operational, time-series, physical-world, or construction-related data.
  • High ownership, excellent problem-solving skills, and comfort in fast-moving environments.
  • Preferred
  • Experience with construction technology, robotics, IoT systems, drone data, or real-world sensor platforms.
  • Familiarity with BI tools like Looker, Tableau, or Power BI.
  • Experience with data governance frameworks, lineage tooling, or cost-optimized warehouse design.
  • Background with predictive or risk modeling pipelines.
  • Doxel provides comprehensive health/dental/vision benefits for employees and their families including an Unlimited PTO policy, a 401(k) program, and a flexible work environment among other benefits.
