Senior Data Engineer

You will be part of a distributed team developing new technologies to solve real business problems and you will build and operate the data infrastructure that powers our client’s platform: handling high-volume, high-velocity, and high-trust data from ingestion to analytics, ML, and GenAI systems.  This role is for a hands-on Senior Engineer who designs and builds production-grade data platforms end-to-end, partners closely with Product, Data Science, and AI Engineering, and thrives in the ambiguity of zero-to-one platform creation—while caring deeply about reliability, performance, and maintainability. You’ll help establish the core data foundations early: ingestion pipelines, streaming and batch processing, storage and query layers, data quality and observability, and interfaces that support analytics, ML, and agentic GenAI systems. Your work will directly influence product velocity, trust in outputs, and our ability to scale responsibly. We are looking for someone with good communication skills, ideally with experience making decisions, being proactive, used to building software from scratch, and with good attention to detail.  What you will do: - Platform Architecture: Build and evolve a scalable, end-to-end data platform, balancing batch/streaming and lake/warehouse architectures with a focus on pragmatic, cost-aware cloud choices. - High-Volume Ingestion: Design and operate performant pipelines for diverse sources (Social, News, APIs), ensuring real-time signal detection, idempotency, and robust failure recovery. - Multi-Store Orchestration: Manage data flows across heterogeneous systems, including Relational, Graph (AWS Neptune), Vector, and Search indexes, ensuring consistency and lineage. - Modeling for AI & Analytics: Develop data models optimized for RAG/Graph RAG workflows, ML training sets, and complex analytical queries (trends, risk, and entity-centric views). - Quality & Observability: Implement rigorous data quality checks, anomaly detection, and full-stack observability to maintain trust for downstream AI applications. What you will bring: - Strong experience as a Senior Data Engineer / Data Infrastructure Engineer working on production systems. - Proven ability to design, build, and operate distributed data pipelines at scale. - Hands-on experience with both batch and streaming data processing. - Experience working across multiple data stores (relational, graph, vector, search). - Solid experience with AWS and data-relevant AWS services. - Comfort working in ambiguous, evolving platform environments. - Strong collaboration skills with Product, Data Science, and ML/AI Engineering teams. Nice to have: - Hands-on experience with AWS Neptune or other graph databases in production. - Experience supporting ML or GenAI systems in production environments. - Experience in risk, compliance, media intelligence, or other high-trust data domains. - Experience designing data platforms with strict quality, auditability, or explainability requirements.
