Position Summary:

Metaphore Biotechnologies is seeking an enthusiastic Sr. Data Engineer to scale the cloud data platform backing our ML-guided therapeutic discovery and development engine. In this role, you will work closely with stakeholders across the company to implement a best-of-breed data platform to support experimental R&D and AI/ML efforts.  The ideal candidate will bring experience in modern data architecture and working with biological, ‘omics and imaging data types to help us unlock the potential of molecular mimicry for therapeutics development. This individual will have the opportunity to join a dynamic interdisciplinary team and also be part of the Flagship ecosystem of companies, providing unique networking benefits through regular meetups, collaboration, and an environment of development and discussion around new ideas shaping the fields of computational biology, ML/AI and data-driven drug discovery.

Key Responsibilities:

• Work closely with data producers and data consumers across research and development to understand data requirements and build data solutions that expand Metaphore’s data lakehouse platform.
• Collaborate with Lab IT, lab automation and computational biology functions to seamlessly integrate data with metadata, and automate data ingestion and processing.
• Ensure data is self-described, adheres to FAIR data principles, and has robust access via API’s.
• Communicate the data roadmap and timelines to colleagues and the leadership team.

Qualifications:

• BA with 5+ or Masters with 3+ years of relevant experience 
• Excellent programming skills in python and SQL.
• Experience with git, docker, CI/CD, and infrastructure-as-code.
• Experience with relational and non-relational databases, as well as data warehouse and lakehouse architectures.
• Experience with cloud computing and data platforms, such as AWS, GCP or Azure.
• Familiarity with biological workflow frameworks such as nextflow and event-driven data pipelines.
• Prior experience with API-based integrations with LIMS systems, such as Benchling, is a strong plus.
• Excellent communication, organizational and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to collaborate with a wide-range of stakeholders to enable execution on company goals.
