Senior Data Engineer

About this Role

We are looking for a Senior Data Engineer to build robust data platforms in Cialfo to help us gain useful insights out of our data gold mines. This position will be part of our Data Engineering team and your job will entail end-to-end ownership of data pipelines (ingestion → transformation → warehouse → activation). The role will require collaboration with Product and Analytics teams internally.

Your role will be to utilise modern cloud-based tools and activation use cases (e.g., reverse ETL, operational analytics) to simplify data centric data solutions, business metadata, data lineage mappings, and data transformation logic for use by our internal and external customers. This role goes beyond traditional BI and includes activating warehouse data into operational tools. You will be responsible to work with the Principal Engineers, Product and Business stakeholders when integrating data with specific development activities.

What You Will Be Doing

• Design, build and maintain the data warehouse. (Snowflake, DBT)
• Knowledge of Data Warehousing methodologies and concepts.
• Design, build and maintain the ETL pipelines- Hevo Data, Python including ELT, SQL-based transformations (dbt), and reverse ETL workflows.
• Maintain and enhance our existing BI platform. (Sisense, Metabase) while building reporting interfaces.
• Define and manage data quality for data sets including automated validations, delta checks, row counts, and time-based monitoring.
• Investigate support incidents, identify the root cause of the problem and fix bugs. Take full ownership of pipeline failures, data inconsistencies, and downstream impact analysis.
• Communicate effectively across multiple departments and with stakeholders to review business requirements, propose solutions and implement them.

About You

• Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• Experience
  • Minimum 5 years of experience managing production-grade data pipelines and data warehouses.
  • Strong knowledge of architecting and implementing very large-scale business intelligence solutions.
  • Strong experience in data warehouse designing and SQL.
  • Strong experience in building ETL pipelines.
  • Advanced SQL (CTEs, window functions, optimizations).
  • Modern data stack tools (dbt, Snowflake, Hevo or similar).
  • Experience working with user-facing BI tools like SiSense, Metabase, Looker etc.
  • Experience working in agile, ticket-based workflows (Jira).
