Senior Data Engineer

AI overview

Lead the development of complex data pipelines that transform unstructured financial data for high-performance relational databases, ensuring accuracy for federal analyses.

Help us bridge the gap between complex financial filings and actionable insights for the federal government. You will manage and evolve sophisticated data pipelines that transform massive volumes of XBRL and securities data into high-performance relational databases. By structuring this data for mission-critical web applications, you ensure that federal analysts have the reliable, real-time information they need to maintain fair and transparent financial markets.

What you will achieve

  • Engineer Complex Data Transformations: You will lead the development of pipelines that translate unstructured XBRL and securities data into optimized SQL Server environments, making complex financial filings accessible and queryable.
  • Power High-Visibility Applications: You will architect the backend data layer that serves a suite of web applications, ensuring fast load times and data integrity for a diverse user base at a major federal regulator.
  • Optimize Cloud-Scale Processing: You will leverage AWS and big data tools to handle increasing data velocity and variety, ensuring our infrastructure scales alongside the evolving needs of the financial markets.
  • Ensure Data Precision: You will implement rigorous validation and cleansing logic within the pipeline to ensure that the data driving federal oversight is accurate, consistent, and audit-ready.

Must-Have Skills (Required)

  • US Citizenship (no dual citizenship permitted)
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related technical field from an accredited university or college.
  • 8+ years of professional experience in data engineering or backend systems development with a focus on Python, Java, and Linux-based systems.
  • Proven track record of architecting production-grade data pipelines within AWS that transform complex unstructured or semi-structured data (such as XML/XBRL) into high-performance relational databases.
  • Deep technical expertise in SQL Server, including advanced schema design and performance tuning to support high-traffic web applications.

Nice-to-Have Skills (Preferred)

  • Master’s degree in a technical or quantitative field
  • Professional certifications in AWS (Solutions Architect or Data Engineer)
  • Familiarity with XBRL standards or securities-market data structures
  • Experience collaborating with web developers to optimize API-to-database interactions
