The opportunity 

We are looking for a Senior Data Engineer (all genders) to join our Analytics & BI team in our Spain. In this role, you will ensure our data infrastructure is optimally set up to deliver high-quality, reliable data for driving business decisions. You'll lead efforts such as growing into more scalable cloud data warehousing and big data tooling. You will directly contribute to our mission to inspire others to live healthy and active lives by empowering our teams through data which will ensure we provide an enjoyable, smooth experience to our members and partners.

This role is limited to 12 months, as it is a parental leave replacement.

What you will do 

• Ensure that our platform delivers optimal performance by enhancing our extensive data model landscape. This will enable data analysts and other data consumers to derive insights more rapidly.
• Design and optimize data models and table structures for efficient consumption by analysts and other stakeholders.
• Participate in capacity planning for future data growth and evolving business requirements.
• Be embedded in a team of highly skilled data engineers who have already built a robust data platform. Help us shape it further with your expertise and knowledge.
• Collaborate with our primary stakeholders, including the analytics team and downstream consumers, to develop high-performance ELT pipelines that prioritize data quality and reliability

What you'll need to succeed

• You bring at least 5 years of experience as a Data Engineer
• You have strong SQL skills and extensive experience using dbt in a production environment, including the use of macros and custom packages.
• You are comfortable with APIs and preferably knowledgeable about LLMs and working with raw text data
• You are able to translate loosely defined business requirements into scalable technical implementations independently
• You have experience with modern data architectures (data mesh, data fabric, lakehouse) and you bring strong working knowledge of database technologies and cloud data platforms (specifically Google Cloud)
• You have experience designing and implementing real-time or streaming data architectures and you are familiar with data cataloging and lineage tools
• A proven track record of successful data architecture implementations, which you have delivered in complex environments
• You bring excellent communication skills with the ability to translate technical concepts for non-technical stakeholders
