Senior Data Engineer - Ads

The opportunity

As a Data Engineer on the Ads team, you’ll play a critical role in designing and building the data foundations that support decision-making, experimentation, and optimization across our ads platform. You’ll work at the intersection of business context and technical implementation, translating complex and often ambiguous requirements into scalable, reliable, and well-modeled data systems that can evolve with the business.

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys owning data architecture end-to-end, partnering closely with cross-functional stakeholders, and building durable data infrastructure rather than focusing solely on downstream reporting.

What you'll be doing

• Design, build, and maintain scalable data pipelines and datasets that support ads platform analytics, experimentation, and optimization.
• Translate complex business logic and requirements into well-structured data models that are intuitive, reliable, and extensible.
• Develop and operate large-scale ETL workflows with a strong focus on data quality, performance, and maintainability.
• Partner closely with product, engineering, and analytics teams to align data systems with evolving ads use cases.
• Contribute to the evolution of our data platform, including distributed processing, orchestration, and infrastructure best practices.
• Identify and address data reliability issues, improve observability, and establish strong data quality standards.

What we're looking for

• Strong Data Modeling & SQL Skills: Proven experience designing clear, scalable data models and working with complex datasets.
• ETL & Pipeline Development: Hands-on experience building and operating large-scale data pipelines in production environments.
• Distributed Systems Experience: Working knowledge of distributed data processing frameworks such as Spark.
• Modern Data Infrastructure: Familiarity with containerized and cloud-native environments, including Kubernetes.
• Programming Proficiency: Experience with at least one general-purpose programming language such as Python, Scala, or Java.
• Business-Aware Engineering: Ability to understand business context and translate it into durable technical solutions.
• Quality & Scalability Mindset: Strong focus on data correctness, performance, and long-term maintainability.

You might also have

• Experience working with ads, marketplace, or monetization data.
• Familiarity with experimentation frameworks or metrics-driven product development.
• Experience operating data systems at high scale or in real-time/near-real-time environments.
