Role overview

We are looking for a highly skilled Website Conversion Optimisation Expert to lead the strategy and execution of Proton’s website conversion optimisation efforts. This role combines product management, data-driven decision-making and growth marketing to transform Proton’s website into a high-performing, conversion-centric asset. As the Senior CRO Lead, you will drive the optimisation of user journeys and enhance Proton’s product experience, ensuring that we accelerate user acquisition, free sign-ups and paid subscriptions.

You’ll work closely with engineering, design, product, data and business teams to continuously improve website performance, create data-driven roadmaps and launch experiments that drive growth across both our consumer and business-facing websites. Additionally, you will be responsible for optimising the mobile experience, ensuring a seamless experience across all devices and platforms.

What you’ll do

  • Create, prioritise and manage a continuous roadmap of web and app store optimisation experiments aimed at increasing conversions, improving user experience (UX) and driving revenue growth (free sign-ups, subscriptions and sales leads)
  • Work closely with Engineering, Product, Design, Performance Marketing, SEO and Proton's business units to ensure a seamless user experience that is optimised for conversion across all web and mobile touch-points
  • Define and implement growth experiments (e.g. A/B and multivariate tests) to optimise website elements and user flows, prioritising tests based data-driven insights and validating hypotheses to drive conversions and enhance the overall user experience
  • Champion improvements to the entire user journey, from ad click-throughs to landing page conversions and sign-ups, working with the Growth, Engineering and Marketing teams to ensure that all touch-points are designed for maximum engagement and conversion
  • Collaborate with the Accounts and Payment teams to optimise the end-to-end product onboarding journey, owning the CRO across the full funnel — from initial acquisition to successful subscription and payment
  • Ensure that Proton’s website and user journeys are fully optimised for mobile, ensuring responsiveness, ease of navigation and optimal performance on mobile devices, providing a smooth user experience across all screen sizes
  • Leverage web analytics, customer feedback, user research and other data to identify conversion bottlenecks, measure growth impacts and inform website optimisation decisions, developing actionable insights that drive the website optimisation roadmap and growth strategy
  • Share findings, insights and learnings from experiments and tests with cross-functional teams to encourage a data-driven, iterative culture of continuous improvement
  • Define and track key performance indicators (KPIs) for growth, including conversion rates, user engagement, traffic patterns, free sign-ups and paid subscriptions, presenting findings and recommendations to senior leadership to inform website optimisation strategy
  • Stay informed about the latest trends in digital marketing, web optimisation, CRO strategies and competitor activities to ensure Proton’s website remains cutting-edge and highly competitive in the market

What you'll bring

  • 8-12 years of experience in conversion optimisation, digital marketing and growth-focused roles, preferably in fast-paced tech, SaaS or privacy/security environments
  • Extensive hands-on experience with Conversion Rate Optimisation (CRO)A/B testing and multivariate testing, as well as familiarity with popular web analytics tools (e.g. Google Analytics, Mixpanel, Hotjar etc.) and data-driven decision-making
  • Experience in growth marketing and strong understanding of the full user lifecycle and how to optimise each touchpoint to drive revenue and engagement
  • Proven experience in optimising websites and user journeys for mobile responsiveness and performance, ensuring that all content is seamlessly adapted for mobile devices and mobile-first UX
  • Familiarity with both B2C and B2B product environments, particularly in privacy, security or SaaS-based industries
  • Strong analytical mindset with the ability to synthesise data, identify trends and make recommendations that improve website performance
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively present complex findings and work cross-functionally with different teams
  • Passion for privacy, productivity and the future of the open internet, aligning with Proton’s vision and mission to create secure and private digital experiences
