SENIOR UNDERWRITER/SENIOR CREDIT ANALYST

POSITION SUMMARY:

 The Senior Underwriter is part of the Underwriting team and is responsible for reviewing the loan applications of individuals, particularly for more complex transactions, to determine the risk involved. The Senior Underwriter is also responsible for evaluating the eligibility of the applicant for loan application processing.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Analyze application data including financial statements, bank statements, Underwriting card statements, business/personal credit & due diligence platforms.
• Verify the applicant’s information ensuring documents are valid and fulfill the loan application requirements.
• Evaluate business applicants' credit worthiness in accordance with company underwriting guidelines, across Libertas portfolio of products.
• Speak with customers to understand their funding needs.
• Create structured products to tailor needs of the client using background due diligence to evaluate credit risk.
• Perform accurate analysis of any applicant file with any degree of difficulty and effectively transmit underwriting decisions to relationship managers both orally and in writing.
• Provide technical and analytical guidance in gathering and analyzing financial information and interface with Senior Management to discuss underwriting and risk decisions and strategies.
• Adheres to compliance procedures and internal/operational risk controls in accordance with any and all applicable regulatory standards, requirements, and policies.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Proficient knowledge in underwriting functions, an in-depth understanding of credit reports, income statements, balance sheets and tax returns
• Advanced problem-solving skills and excellent communications and interpersonal skills.
• Strong analytical skills including the ability to read and assess individual and company financial statements, cash flow, industry, and competitive analysis and projections.
• Proficiency with Excel and data interpretation is a must; familiarity with Adobe and CRM platforms would be a plus.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel required.

Education Requirements/Additional Preferences:

• Required Years of Work Experience: 3+ years of experience in Private Credit underwriting OR 2+ years in commercial banking.
• Education/Experience: Bachelor's degree. Concentration in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or related fields.
