About the team & role

As Senior Counsel, you will you will ensure robust legal and regulatory coverage across Bitstamp’s operations in multiple jurisdictions. This position supports the company’s ongoing compliance, licensing, and product development initiatives within an increasingly complex regulatory environment for crypto-assets and payment services.

This role is based in our Slovenian office. with in-person attendance expected at least 3 days per week.

What you’ll do

• Closely collaborating with the Senior Manager and Assistant General Counsel on legal and regulatory matters.
• Advising managers and offering accurate legal guidance on complex legal issues of the business.
• Negotiating, drafting, preparing, and reviewing legal papers, agreements, and other legal documents.
• Providing key legal advice on new products and new service lines before launch.
• Assisting in the handling of litigation matters.
• Liaising with and overseeing multiple internal and external parties (including law firms) to perform and assist in delivering accurate legal review.
• Analysis of compliance with all current business and industry related laws and new regulations on a global scale, with a strong focus on financial and/or payment services regulation.
• Performing legal reviews and recommendations for different business areas.
• Analyzing and assessing the local regulatory framework and changes affecting the business.
• Supporting board and shareholders meetings, if required.
• Handle, when required, the process of customer complaints.
• Identifying proactive solutions.
• Ensuring that the company is acting in compliance with all current business and industry related laws and new regulations on a global scale.

What you bring

• Law Degree in any EU jurisdiction, LLM considered an asset.
• At least 5 years of experience in an in-house legal role or in a law firm of good repute.
• Strong knowledge in crypto assets/products and related regulation.
• Strong knowledge in regulatory laws, with additional experience in corporate, finance, payment, data and/or consumer protection laws.
• Ability to plan, prioritise and manage own projects effectively and own the delivery and the outcome and focus on goals and achieve key result.
• Strong and open communications skills.
• Ability to adapt, be pragmatic and deliver practical advice relevant to the commercial, strategic, and financial context and apply a risk-based approach.
• Reliable with good team spirit and positive energy.
• Creative thinking and capability of working in a fast-evolving environment.
• Flexibility to travel abroad once a quarter.
• Excellent knowledge of English language (written and verbal), any other language considered an asset.
• Police Clearance Certificate.
