Senior controller, transformation lead

Our client is seeking a Senior Controller & Transformation Lead to act as the architect of our financial ecosystem and the operational backbone of our Finance function. Reporting directly to the SVP Finance, your mandate is twofold: - Protect and elevate financial integrity across global entities, and - Lead the transformation of Finance from manual execution to scalable, automated excellence. This is a hands-on leadership role. You will manage the Controller and Accountant (AP/AR), while actively solving complex technical issues, strengthening internal controls, and designing systems that scale with the company. What You’ll Be Responsible For
  • Operational Leadership — The Player-Coach
  • Manage and develop the Controller and Accountant (AP/AR), providing technical mentorship and performance oversight.
  • Serve as the final review layer for financial deliverables, ensuring rigor, consistency, and executive-ready outputs.
  • Step directly into complex reconciliations, consolidations, or peak-period execution when required (year-end, audits, large settlements).
  • Create a culture of accountability, ownership, and technical excellence within the team.

  • Financial Integrity & Governance
  • Ensure full compliance with US and Canadian accounting standards, including complex global consolidations.
  • Own the consolidated monthly close at a structural level, ensuring accurate reporting packages, management metrics, and variance insights.
  • Design, document, and implement robust internal controls and accounting policies aligned with growth.
  • Oversee annual audits and coordinate preparation of complex working papers for tax compliance (CDAE/SR&ED) and transfer pricing.
  • Maintain structural oversight of payroll processes to ensure accuracy, control integrity, and system optimization.

  • Systems Transformation & Automation Leadership
  • Design and lead the Finance transformation roadmap, migrating manual workflows into integrated, automated systems.
  • Act as the technical “Super-User” of NetSuite and core financial tools (Stripe, Salesforce, Braintree, ADP), ensuring clean data flows and system coherence.
  • Partner cross-functionally with Product, Revenue, and Operations to align financial systems with business evolution.
  • Continuously identify scalability risks and proactively redesign processes to support growth.
  • Profile We’re Looking For
  • 12+ years of progressive financial leadership experience (CPA preferred).
  • Deep hands-on expertise in NetSuite and advanced Excel.
  • Proven ability to lead senior accounting professionals while remaining operationally involved.
  • Systems thinker — you build structures, not just reports.
  • Experience in digital, platform, or high-growth environments.
  • Fully bilingual (French & English).
