Senior Content Designer - Inside IR35 Contract

AI overview

Drive user-centric content design for public sector clients, improving accessibility and user journeys through agile methodologies while collaborating closely with multidisciplinary teams.

Content designers make services easier for people to understand and use. You could be working on a single piece of content or an end-to-end journey of a service to help users complete their goals. You will work with organisations to understand their goals, working with them to improve user journeys, content quality, and the service to deliver.

You will be able to work closely with other disciplines within agile delivery teams, in particular user researchers, service designers, and interaction designs, as well as influential stakeholders such as service owners and policy teams.

This is a contract role working with one of our key Public Sector clients so we are looking for recent GDS experience and for someone to be available to start in the next 2 weeks or very close to.

  • Agile working. You understand agile methodology and how to apply agile ways of working to designing content.  You know how to make sure the team has awareness of each other’s work and how it relates to the objectives and user needs.  You can work in a fast-paced environment, using iterative and flexible approaches to deliver outcomes rapidly. You can use platforms (eg JIRA) and tools (eg Heroku) to manage and communicate your work to others.
  • Stakeholder relationship management. You can identify important stakeholders, tailoring communication to their needs, and work with teams to build these relationships. You have experience representing the user to these groups and using evidence to build consensus to deliver the best outcome.
  • Strategic thinking. You can understand strategies and policies, providing guidance to others on working to deliver the policy intent and the strategic vision. You know how to evaluate current strategies to ensure the policy, organisation and user requirements are being met and exceeded where possible.
  • User focus. You can identify tasks that will provide insight into a problem.  You can formulate hypotheses and make decisions based on user research findings and data. You can translate user stories into content that meets users’ needs and propose suitable designs. You can use quantitative and qualitative data about users to turn user insights into outcomes.
  • User-centred content design. You can make complex language and processes easy to understand, presenting the right information in a format that users need.  You have experience writing, editing and publishing digital content. You understand how to make content accessible to all.  Additionally, you understand government accessibility requirements and can design content that works with common assistive technologies.
  • Prototyping. You know how to bring user research findings into your design work and how to work collaboratively with researchers, designers and developers to visualise content in context.  You understand the value of using different prototyping techniques and how to select the best option for different audiences and outcomes.
