Senior Content Author - Contently

Job purpose:

We are seeking a Senior Content Author with proven expertise in Contently to lead and execute high-quality editorial workflows for digital brands. This role requires hands-on experience in managing multi-format content pipelines using Contently, as well as a deep understanding of content performance, editorial planning, and collaborative delivery.


Job details: 

  • Location: Remote (open to candidates based in Costa Rica, Mexico, Colombia; must be able to work on a UTC-6 schedule)
  • Schedule: Monday to Friday, 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. (UTC-6)
  • Job Type: Fixed-term, full-time position (approximately 1 month) with potential for extension
  • Language Proficiency: Professional proficiency in Spanish and English (C1 reading, writing & conversation)
  • Availability: Immediate availability preferred


Key Responsibilities:

  • Operate as a subject matter expert in Contently, managing all aspects of content workflow: editorial calendars, brief creation, freelancer assignment, asset uploads, revisions, and approvals.
  • Drive content consistency and editorial excellence across multiple digital formats (articles, emails, landing pages, guides, etc.).
  • Collaborate with content strategists, SEO analysts, UX designers, and developers to ensure content is aligned with customer journeys and marketing objectives.
  • Leverage Contently Analytics to track performance of published content, synthesize insights, and recommend improvements to editorial strategy.
  • Maintain structured, scalable documentation: authoring guidelines, content standards, tone of voice, editorial SLAs, and process maps.
  • Enforce brand governance, messaging consistency, and SEO best practices across all content deliverables.
  • Troubleshoot content delivery issues, resolve formatting or workflow gaps, and escalate platform-level bugs when needed.
  • Support onboarding and upskilling of freelance or in-house content contributors within the Contently environment.
  • Monitor content pipeline health and proactively identify risks or delays to publishing timelines.


Required Academic Background:

B.S. in Computer Science or related technical discipline, or equivalent practical experience.


Required Skills and Experience:

  • 5+ years in digital content roles, including experience as a content author, editor, or strategist.
  • Demonstrated professional use of Contently: content operations, editorial planning, platform workflows, and analytics.
  • Experience with AEM (Adobe Experience Manager) authoring: page creation, component use, and content QA.
  • Familiarity with additional CMS platforms such as WordPress, Sitecore, Contentful, Webflow or similar.
  • Understanding of localization workflows and translation-ready content structures.
  • Basic SEO and UX writing best practices.
  • Experience managing freelance writers or external vendors.
  • Familiarity with content governance models and taxonomy frameworks.
  • Basic knowledge of HTML/CSS for troubleshooting formatting issues in CMS
  • Familiarity with localization, translation workflows, and multi-language content structures
  • Strong command of editorial workflows in content marketing or newsroom-style environments.
  • Ability to synthesize marketing briefs and turn them into high-performing content deliverables.
  • Skilled in writing and editing digital content with attention to SEO, readability, and audience engagement.
  • Working knowledge of content analytics and reporting tools.
  • Competence with editorial QA processes and governance tools (style guides, content scoring)
  • Use of AI-assisted writing/editing tools (Grammarly, Jasper, Writer.com) in a professional context
  • Exposure to Agile content production methodologies (Kanban/Scrum)
  • Proficiency with collaboration tools (Google Workspace, Slack, Jira, Confluence, etc.).
  • Excellent communication, documentation, and stakeholder management skills.

  • Content Marketing Certification – HubSpot Academy or Content Marketing Institute
  • SEO Content Writing Certification – Semrush Academy or Yoast
  • Contently Platform Training – (internal onboarding or verified experience preferred)
  • Adobe Certified Expert (AEM Sites Author) – for those with AEM exposure (nice to have)
  • Google Analytics Certification – for content performance tracking
  • Experience with version-control systems (Git, SVN, Mercurial).
