Job purpose:

We are looking for a Senior Content Author with proven expertise in Contentful to lead and execute editorial operations for digital experiences. You’ll manage complex content workflows, collaborate across teams, and ensure consistent, high-quality content aligned with digital marketing objectives.


Job details: 

  • Location: Remote (open to candidates based in Costa Rica, Mexico, Colombia; must be able to work on a UTC-6 schedule)
  • Schedule: Monday to Friday, 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. (UTC-6)
  • Job Type: Fixed-term, full-time position (approximately 1 month) with potential for extension
  • Language Proficiency: Professional proficiency in Spanish and English (C1 reading, writing & conversation)
  • Availability: Immediate availability preferred


Key Responsibilities:

  • Operate as a Contentful subject matter expert, managing structured content workflows including content model usage, entry creation, asset linking, versioning, localization, publishing, and QA.
  • Drive consistency, scalability, and editorial quality across multi-format digital content (e.g., landing pages, articles, guides, in-app copy, and email modules).
  • Collaborate with content strategists, developers, UX designers, and SEO teams to ensure content structure supports both user experience and business objectives.
  • Use Contentful’s environment and localization features to manage multi-language, multi-market content pipelines.
  • Leverage structured content to enable omnichannel publishing through APIs (GraphQL/REST), supporting headless front-end architectures.
  • Maintain and evolve editorial documentation: content models, naming conventions, field validations, governance rules, publishing SLAs.
  • Enforce brand consistency and SEO optimization at the structural level: fields, metadata, tagging, and taxonomy.
  • Troubleshoot issues related to rendering, formatting, broken references, or integration failures with frontend or API endpoints.
  • Train, support, and onboard internal stakeholders or external contributors in Contentful’s authoring interface, permissions model, and best practices.
  • Monitor content pipeline health and proactively flag risks or blockers across Contentful environments or workflow transitions.


Required Academic Background:

B.S. in Computer Science or related technical discipline, or equivalent practical experience.


Required Skills and Experience:

  • 5+ years in digital content production, editorial operations, or structured content authoring roles.
  • Demonstrated professional use of Contentful, including content modeling, entry creation, asset management, publishing workflows, localization, and environment control.
  • Experience using Contentful’s API capabilities (GraphQL/REST) in collaboration with development teams.
  • Understanding of headless CMS principles: separation of content and presentation, reusability, structured taxonomy.
  • Experience with AEM (Adobe Experience Manager) authoring: page creation, component use, and content QA.
  • Familiarity with additional CMS platforms such as WordPress, Sitecore, Contently, Webflow or similar.
  • Understanding of localization workflows and translation-ready content structures.
  • Basic SEO and UX writing best practices.
  • Experience managing freelance writers or external vendors.
  • Familiarity with content governance models and taxonomy frameworks.
  • Basic HTML/CSS skills for troubleshooting content rendering issues.
  • Solid grasp of SEO and UX writing principles applied to structured content.
  • Experience managing freelance writers or external content contributors.
  • Familiarity with content governance frameworks: tone of voice, scoring models, brand style guides.
  • Competent in content QA, metadata management, and editorial performance tracking.
  • Exposure to Agile content production methodologies (Kanban/Scrum)
  • Proficiency with collaboration tools (Google Workspace, Slack, Jira, Confluence, etc.).
  • Excellent communication, documentation, and stakeholder management skills.
