Senior Consultant

Role Purpose:

The Senior Consultant delivers high-impact consulting, training and advisory services to aviation organisations, helping clients strengthen safety risk management capability and organisational performance.

The role leads complex client engagements, manages consulting projects and contributes to the development of Baines Simmons’ consulting propositions, products and services aligned with the SMARRT MAP™ framework.

Key Responsibilities:

· Lead consulting projects and programmes to address client safety risk management challenges and organisational improvement priorities.

· Define project scope, delivery plans, milestones and resource requirements to ensure effective and profitable delivery of consulting engagements.

· Translate client problems into structured consulting interventions using recognised safety risk management methodologies and Baines Simmons frameworks.

· Provide expert advice on the design, implementation and improvement of safety management systems and safety risk management processes.

· Deliver training, workshops and facilitated sessions to develop client capability in safety management and safety performance measurement.

· Mentor consultants and provide technical guidance to support professional development and competence progression.

· Support the development and maintenance of consulting products, services and intellectual property aligned with SMARRT MAP™.

· Contribute to business development activities including proposal development, pre-sales discussions and thought leadership.

· Maintain strong relationships with clients and act as a trusted advisor to support long-term account growth.

Safety Risk Management Technical Competence Expectations:

• Deliver and challenge safety subject matter experts on the intent of aviation safety risk management regulations.

• Develop competence within client safety departments and support organisational capability building.

• Explain and justify the value of effective safety risk management and safety assurance functions.

• Apply advanced safety risk management tools and methodologies such as BowTie analysis, ARMS risk classification and human reliability methods.

• Assess the maturity of organisational safety management systems and identify improvement opportunities.

• Explain the rationale behind safety performance assessment models and maturity scoring approaches.

• Support organisations in transitioning from reactive safety management to proactive safety risk management practices.Senior Consultants should also demonstrate competence in foundational SRM areas including:

• Explaining core safety management and safety risk management principles. Applying the Baines Simmons SMARRT MAP™ model and safety performance measurement frameworks.

• Understanding aviation safety regulatory frameworks (ICAO, EASA and national regulators).

Desirable Skills and Experience:

· Experience working with aviation regulators, approved organisations or safety management systems

· Experience delivering safety management or safety risk management training

· Familiarity with safety risk modelling tools and safety performance measurement frameworks

· Experience in change management or organisational transformation within regulated industries
