Ocean Outcomes (O2) was founded over a decade ago by a group of changemakers committed to addressing the interconnected environmental and social challenges embedded in global seafood production. As a mission-driven nonprofit and technical partner, O2 is dedicated to addressing the interrelated challenges stemming from seafood production: overfishing, habitat degradation, biodiversity loss, labor abuse, and food security through science-based, socially responsible solutions.
O2 works across regions and supply chains, partnering with seafood companies, governments, and civil society organizations to improve fisheries management, increase transparency, and strengthen responsible labor practices worldwide. While O2 maintains strong regional expertise in key seafood-producing geographies like Northeast Asia, its work increasingly focuses on global partnerships and scalable approaches that drive lasting environmental and social impact across the seafood sector.
As we enter our next decade, pressing environmental and social challenges remain to be addressed. O2 is expanding its leadership in human rights, fair labor practices, and social responsibility—seeking to influence global norms, strengthen cross-sector collaboration, and support industry-led solutions that can be sustained over time.
Ocean Outcomes is seeking a Senior Consultant to support its expanding global role in social responsibility, human rights, and worker-centered approaches within fisheries and seafood supply chains. Reporting to the Social Responsibility Senior Manager, the Consultant will support ongoing projects and serve as an advisor helping O2 strengthen approaches to human rights due diligence (HRDD) that center workers. The role focuses on advancing globally relevant, partnership-driven HRDD and worker engagement approaches, including risk identification, mitigation, remediation, and continuous improvement, with a focus on practical implementation at scale.
Priority Project Responsibilities: Consortium on Social Risks in Seafood
A core focus of this consultancy will be supporting a grant-funded project to strengthen and scale HRDD through O2’s partnership with the Consortium on Social Risks in Seafood, a multi-stakeholder initiative (Conservation International, Fishwise, and LRQA) dedicated to advancing responsible labor practices across global seafood supply chains.
A goal of this project is to enable the seafood industry to independently sustain human rights due diligence systems beyond philanthropic support. In collaboration with Consortium partners, O2 and the Consultant will support the following deliverables and objectives:
Additional Responsibilities
In addition to the project specific responsibilities, additional responsibilities are envisioned to include:
