Senior Compositor (5-month Contract)

In Virtual Production, PXO collaborates with filmmakers from first drawing to final pixel. Using interactive technology and proprietary software and tools, PXO brings ideas to life by virtually immersing filmmakers in the worlds they imagine, throughout every stage of the creative process.  

The company’s LED virtual production work includes House of the Dragon, Star Trek: Discovery, Star Trek: Strange New Worlds, Avatar: The Last Airbender, Reacher and Amazon’s critically acclaimed Cada Minuto Cuenta. PXO has seven creative studios and three LED volumes in the US, UK, Germany, Canada.  

The Role:

The Senior Compositor will be responsible for delivering excellence in all compositing aspects for our Television and Feature projects.  Working directly with the Compositing Supervisor and in close collaboration with the VFX Supervisor and Art Directors, their goal will be to ensure quality and technical excellence in all mandates. 

Day to day, your responsibilities will include:

• Create high quality digital composites and visual effects for assigned shots, seamlessly integrating the various layers of a shot
• Establish looks and/or follow set style direction
• Understand and follow production guidelines, solving design and/or effect challenges for key visual effects shots as needed
• Review and implement feedback quickly and effectively
• Collaborate with Supervisors and other compositors to ensure shots are delivered to highest standard and on schedule

Requirements

• 5+ years of compositing experience on feature films and high-end television
• Expert knowledge of Nuke
• Knowledge of 3D and stereo compositing, CG integration with multi-pass EXR
• Reel showing strong artistic skills including a sense of color, lighting, composition
• Strong artistic skills including a strong sense of color, lighting, perspective, scale, and composition
• Excellent attention to detail and desire to deliver consistently high-quality work, and encourage those around you to the same standards
• Experience with Shotgun an asset
• Excellent problem-solving skills
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work within a strong team environment

Additional Requirements:

• Must be eligible to work in Canada.
• Must have live in British Columbia, Canada

Benefits

The salary range for this position is $90,000 to $120,000 CND. Individual salaries within this range will be dependent upon skills, experience, and qualifications.
