VillageReach is seeking to recruit an experienced Senior Compliance Officer to support the management of the organization’s product and service supply. The Senior Compliance Officer will play a strategic role in applying best practices across risk management, quality assurance, compliance, internal controls, and due diligence to ensure risk management is embedded into operational processes.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties, responsibilities, and activities may change or be assigned at any time.
1. Risk management:
· Development of risk management principles, tools, compliance and accountability frameworks
· Oversight of internal controls and due diligence.
· Support in review and contracts management,
· Proactively addresses key risks, prevents non-compliance, and ensures robust due diligence thereby enhancing integrity, accountability, and operational excellence.
· Advancing risk management practices, promoting a strong compliance culture, and ensuring robust internal controls and due diligence processes across the organization.
· Integration of risk management principles into strategic decision-making and operational planning,
· Strengthening integrity due diligence processes and systems, and implementing preventative measures against bribery, corruption, and fraud.
2. Internal Control & Compliance Advisory:
· Designing, improving, and implementing internal control systems and frameworks
· Leading or contributing to reviews on existing capabilities related to policies, processes, systems, and functions, which may involve gap analyses, control design reviews, and validating control effectiveness.
· Addressing audit recommendations and implementing appropriate corrective actions.
· Advising on the development and maintenance of policies relating to compliance and contributing to their implementation
3. Due Diligence Advisory:
· Lead in development of integrity due diligence policies, procedures and tools based on best practices
· Leading components of the integrity due diligence risk assessments and advice on mitigation of VillageReach exposure to integrity risks.
4. Capacity building and reporting:
· Contribute to and support internal awareness-raising and capacity building efforts through Capacity Building & Knowledge Management
· Provide risk and compliance as well as due diligence related training, coaching, and facilitation support to all teams
· Preparation of periodic due diligence updates and reports to management.
· Provide expert advice on compliance concerns and incidents.
5. Coordinating with internal audit team and other units to address systemic compliance risks and advising on cross-functional solutions

VillageReach employees typically work in a shared, open environment with task and conference rooms accessible to employees for privacy and meetings. The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet. Due to the time zone differences across our USA, Kenya and Country Offices and location of other global staff, we have established core collaboration hours between 6am Pacific Time and 18:00 South Africa Time (GMT+1) Monday through Thursday. All staff, regardless of location are expected to be available between these hours. During Daylight Savings Time, this allows for 12 hours per week (3 hours/day) of collaboration time and during Standard Time, 8 hours (2 hours/day). We do not hold cross-office meetings on Friday.
