About the Position:

 

Tired of working for a traditional claims carrier? Does the idea of working in a technology focused insurance environment excite you? Our team of experienced desk adjusters are the best of the best when it comes to handling complex property, PA and Attorney represented claims.

 

In this role you will act as the liaison between Swyfft's policy holders and vendors by providing a fast and friendly claims experience. Our "Swyfft" mindset allows us to promote a faster, friendlier claims process which equals happier policyholders.

 

*This position is a 100% remote U.S. based opportunity that can be based in one of the following states only: AL, AZ, FL, GA, KY, LA, MA, MO, NC, NJ, NY, OH, OR, PA, SC, TX, UT, VA, WA, WI.

 

Some travel for day-to-day work, team meetings, and training will be required.

 

Key Responsibilities: (What you'll be asked to do)

  • Investigate, analyze, and determine the extent of liability concerning first party homeowner property losses and damages.
  • Effectively communicate and negotiate with policyholders, agents, public adjusters, attorneys, and service providers via phone, email, and internal systems to accurately document claim details.
  • Successfully manage a pending claim load at varying stages of the claims process.
  • Interpret and apply the details of an insurance policy to ensure the accuracy of payments and claims declinations.
  • Interpret and apply computer generated loss estimates, engineer’s reports, and construction terminology.
  • Update and maintain comprehensive claim handling notations in our electronic claims management system and other related applications.
  • Mentor our mid and associate level claims representatives.  

 

The Successful Candidate: (What we're looking for)

  • Ensure that all assigned claims are resolved timely, reserved accurately, and handled fairly and in compliance with company guidelines. 
  • You come to us with a proven track record of handling claims and homeowner property losses. Previous field adjusting and/or construction experience is extremely valuable to us.
  • You have a solid technical background that includes an excellent understanding (and hands-on experience) in loss estimating, homeowner policy coverages, and construction.
  • You're comfortable working in a metrics driven claims environment. 
  • You’re used to handling a pending claim volume of 50+ claims.
  • Your negotiation and decision-making skills are excellent when dealing with PA’s and Attorney’s.
  • Both internal (your peers) and external clients commend your excellent verbal and written communication and follow up skills.
  • You're detail oriented, organized, and can multi-task like nothing anyone has ever seen before!
  • You're a get the job done, self-starter that thrives in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
  • HAAG Certification is a plus. 

 

Some Requirements:

  • 7+ years of experience as a desk adjuster in the homeowner/property industry. Adjusting all perils (fire, hail, wind, water, theft, lightning, vandalism, etc.).
  • Understanding valued policy states and knowledge of which perils apply and when tendering limits are appropriate.
  • Previous experience working with contractors, and vendors for claims resolution.
  • Proficient in handling complex claims with loss values $100K and above.
  • Previous experience evaluating Proof of Losses.
  • Previous experience handling CRN, DTPA, NOI, mediations, and appraisals
  • Ability to conduct recorded statements with insureds.

 

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience is preferred.
  • High School Diploma or its equivalent (GED) is required.

 

Computer Skills:

  • Must be proficient with MS Office and other internal insurance related programs, systems or applications. (Outlook, Word, and Excel)
  • Ability to communicate effectively using programs such as Slack & MS Teams. You are comfortable sharing screens and video chatting.
  • Previous experience using systems such as Symbility is a plus.

 

Certifications or Licensing Required:

  • You are currently licensed or eligible for licensing as an adjuster in the states of: TX, FL, NY, NC, SC and LA (we can provide assistance with your licensing fees).

 

Other:

  • Reliable high-speed internet connectivity required.
  • Designated quiet work from home space.

 

The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is: $70,000 - $80,000/year + benefits.

There is a different range applicable to specific work locations. This salary range is a good-faith estimate of what Swyfft may pay for this position at the time of posting. Actual compensation may vary based on skills, qualifications, and experience. The range reflects annual compensation (as applicable) and does not include bonuses or other incentives that the company may choose to pay at its sole discretion.
