Position Overview

Ripple Effect is looking for a Senior Communication Consultant that will play a pivotal role in shaping our success. Supporting federal agencies, this role will provide support to communications by independently developing and implementing communication plans including resource management, timeframes, and budgets for communications projects.

While not an exhaustive list, the key duties of this role include:

  • Developing a wide variety of communication products with minimal oversight including press releases, blogs, multimedia, presentations, social media, infographics, events, factsheets and more while ensuring al deliverables adhere to branding guidelines, style guides, quality control tools, and other team protocols.
  • Demonstrating in-depth knowledge of the client’s mission and stakeholders to develop meaningful and targeted communications approaches.
  • Developing and implementing key communications plans for campaigns, events, and programs to ensure clear, cohesive messaging and mentoring others in effective communication practices.
  • Coordinating with team members to deliver complex, multimedia deliverables under tight deadlines while managing personal and team tasks, scheduling meetings, preparing pre & post meeting materials, and providing timely follow-up.
  • Overseeing and independently executing data collection, data entry, quality control, analysis, synthesis, and reporting activities to support communications strategic planning and execution, channel management, events planning, and regular reporting to stakeholders.
  • Liaising with team members, clients, and other stakeholders to identify and define requirements, scope, and objectives, communicate progress and submit deliverables.
  • Contributing to solutions for complex project management challenges while supporting the development of new processes and procedures that improve team efficiency, effectiveness, and change management.
  • Building trusted relationships with internal stakeholders and clients by delivering high-quality communication services, meeting their needs and deadlines, and contributing to strategic discussions on how communications can support and advance organizational goals.

Requirements

Minimum Education & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree
  • 6 years of professional experience
  • 3 years of communications coordination experience

Basic Requirements

  • Experience with content development in areas including ability to translate scientific information into plain language for a variety of audiences and versatility across formats such as web, social media, and technical writing.
  • Experience with communication strategy and planning in areas including campaign planning, change management, message development and omnichannel strategies.
  • Ability to learn and navigate web-based systems such as SharePoint, Teams, and other electronic business systems.
  • Intermediate experience with Microsoft Office productivity software and collaboration tools such as Microsoft Teams and SharePoint. 
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to prioritize among multiple tasks in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills for face-to-face interactions with clients, co-workers, senior leaders, and stakeholders.
  • Ability to learn quickly and condense complex information from diverse sources into concise, attractive, user-friendly formats.
  • Ability to demonstrate strategic and creative skill sets.
  • Ability to manage logistics and communications for high-profile events.

  • Experience with working for or contracting with NIH or other HHS agency
  • Experience with scientific and healthcare communications
  • Experience managing mid-size to large projects with tight deadlines
