Job Summary:

The Senior Cloud Engineer reports to the Director of Technology and calls for someone who has the necessary hard and soft skills required to overcome the traditional barriers between software development, testing and operations teams. This will involve providing Continuous Integration/Continuous Delivery solutions which align with established System Development Life Cycles as well as administering and deploying tools to support these functions.

Responsibilities:

Actively contribute to assigned cloud-based platform projects, including architecture design preparation, implementation, and documentation tasks for new functionality.
Maintain and develop the “Infrastructure as Code” (IaC), with a strong focus on Terraform for provisioning and managing AWS resources.
Troubleshoot and resolve issues in development, lab, and production environments.
Design and implement application delivery mechanisms leveraging CloudFront and security policies using AWS WAF.
Timely and effectively solve incidents and work on RCA cases.
Deploy, maintain, and troubleshoot applications running in AWS, with a focus on core services including ECS Fargate, Lambda, and AWS API Gateway.
Work on patching and maintenance tasks.
Building cloud platform components and new application integration with our monitoring system (Datadog).
Developing Cloud agnostic infrastructures leveraging Kubernetes.
Collaborate with Development teams to solve complex issues, design new solutions or to help with new code deployment actions to Production environments.
Participate in on-call rotation.

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science/Information Systems or equivalent experience.
10+ years’ experience in a Cloud Engineer role preferred.

Skills/ Knowledge Requirements:

Expert-level proficiency in Terraform. Deep understanding of what "Platform as Code" and "Configuration as Code" mean and how to apply them.
Knowledge of Linux and Windows operating system.
Advanced knowledge in AWS architecture and services. Direct, hands-on experience with ECS Fargate, Lambda, CloudFront, AWS WAF, VPC, AWS RDS Aurora, and AWS API Gateway.
Strong hands-on experience with Microsoft Azure, including core services such as Azure Virtual Machines, Azure Storage (Blob, File, Disk), Azure Networking (VNets, NSGs, Load Balancers, VPN Gateways), Azure Active Directory / Entra ID, Azure Monitor, Log Analytics, and Application Insights
Solid working experience with GitLab (or comparable CI/CD tools).
Advanced database management skills.
Strong understanding of 3-tier application infrastructure, DNS, and basic networking topics.
Experience with application containerization (e.g., Docker).
Solid ability to communicate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Exceptional attention to detail.
Knowledge of the AWS and/or Azure stack including security best practices.
Scripting experience in BASH along with Python.
Experience with systems monitoring and application monitoring solutions such as Datadog.
Understanding of ITIL framework and all related procedures such us incident management, change management, RCA
Comfort with collaboration, open communication and reaching across functional borders.
Knowledge of Agile methodologies.

Nice to Have:

Knowledge of Google Cloud Platform (GCP)
