Dark Wolf is seeking a Senior Cloud Architect to support the development and sustainment of a cloud-based platform that enables modern software initiatives across the Department of Defense (DoD). The successful candidate will lead architectural solutions in a cloud environment, focusing on DevSecOps expertise and multi-region platform services to modernize legacy software systems. This role involves managing and securing cloud infrastructure through Infrastructure as Code (IaC) while mentoring junior developers and engineers to ensure technical excellence across the team. This role is located in Tampa, FL and will require on site presence at least 3 days per week. 

Required Qualifications:

  • 8+ years of general software engineering experience, with at least 3+ years specifically developing production software leveraging modern languages (including Java, Python, Go, or NodeJS
  • 5+ years of experience working within Agile and Lean software development philosophies, including leading sprints or architectural planning
  • 3+ years of experience with modern version control systems such as Git, focusing on branching strategies and repository management
  • 2+ years of experience developing containerized services deployed in production on orchestration platforms such as Kubernetes
  • 2+ years of experience working with relational and/or non-relational databases (e.g., PostgreSQL, MongoDB, Elasticsearch, etc.)
  • Proven expertise in designing and implementing architectural solutions in a Cloud Computing environment with a focus on multi-region platform services
  • Strong hands-on experience managing and securing cloud infrastructure through Infrastructure as Code (IaC)
  • Proven ability to mentor junior developers and engineers, providing technical guidance and code reviews
  • Effective communication skills with the ability to convey complex ideas to various stakeholders and program leadership
  • CompTIA Security+ CE or another DoD 8570 IAT Level II compliant certification
  • US Citizenship and and active Top Secret security clearance with SCI eligibility

Technical Stack (Expected Proficiency):

  • Infrastructure: AWS GovCloud (IAM, VPC, EC2, S3), AWS EKS
  • DevSecOps & CI/CD: GitLab CI, Jenkins, ArgoCD (GitOps), and Harbor
  • Automation/IaC: Terraform/OpenTofu, Ansible, Helm, and Kustomize
  • Security & Compliance: Snyk, Prisma Cloud, SonarQube, and Anchore (Iron Bank container hardening)
  • Collaboration: Jira, Confluence, and Mattermost

Desired Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in IT Security, Information Systems, Computer Science, or equivalent
  • Experience with DoD IL4/IL5 environments and the RMF/ATO process
  • Previous experience working within or alongside a DoD software factory (e.g., Platform One, Kessel Run)
  • Advanced certification in cloud architecture (AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Professional)
