Procurement Indirect within Vattenfall is seeking a Senior Category Manager. The focus of the role is to manage the strategic direction of the category and the sourcing activities throughout Vattenfall. The target is a group-wide Category strategy alignment and impact to realize overall Vattenfall potential, for best of Vattenfall.

This role is pivotal and the person will be a part of the Indirect procurement leadership team.

Your tasks and responsibilities 

  • Lead the development and execution of the Global IT Category Strategy, aligning with Vattenfall’s sustainability and digital transformation goals.
  • Develop Supplier strategies focused on relationship- and performance management as well as supplier development to ensure novel market approaches are identified and evaluated.
  • Build, manage and maintain relationships with the top global IT suppliers, ensuring performance, innovation, and alignment with business needs.
  • Manage the Category team, functionally, based on team anchored rules of engagement, work, decision making; cultivate a high-performing team by fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration and continuous improvement
  • Collaborate with key internal stakeholders across business areas to translate sourcing needs into actionable procurement initiatives.
  • Embed Vattenfall’s Procurement Scorecard KPIs into category plans and ensure consistent follow-up.
  • Represent Vattenfall with a unified voice in supplier interactions, fostering trust and long-term partnerships.
  • Be accountable for the execution of the global Category strategy through procurement decisions across the business. 

Your profile

  • Proven experience in IT, Category management or strategic sourcing, ideally within the energy or technology sectors.
  • Strong analytical and financial acumen, including cost modelling, spend analysis, and risk assessment.
  • Proven ability to translate strategy into commercial models and procurement initiatives.
  • Excellent communication and influencing skills, with experience presenting to senior leadership.
  • Inclusive leadership style, with a track record of coaching and developing diverse teams.
  • Academic degree in Supply Chain, IT, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
