Senior Buyer
TLDR
Take ownership of approximately EUR 25M in vendor spend and build the procurement function from the ground up, creating financial impact through strategic sourcing and governance.
Job Summary
Are you excited about building something from scratch, and leaving a clear commercial footprint on a fast-growing technology company?
We’re looking for a driven, commercially sharp Senior Buyer to join Cyclomedia as our first dedicated procurement professional. This is a greenfield role: you’ll build the procurement function from the ground up, own the policy, run the first strategic sourcing events, and create direct financial impact from day one.
In this role, you’ll take ownership of approximately EUR 25M in addressable vendor spend across production, IT, hardware, fleet, and professional services. You’ll establish the processes, preferred vendor list, and contract register and then turn governance into savings through competitive sourcing, multi-year framework agreements, and payment term optimization.
If you’re energized by commercial ownership, comfortable challenging the status quo, and want a role where your work directly shows up in the company’s cost base, this is it.
We are seeking candidates to work from either our Zaltbommel, Netherlands EU Headquarters OR our Madison, WI US Headquarters.
Job Responsibilities
As Senior Buyer, you will build and run Cyclomedia’s procurement function. You own the full commercial cycle — from policy to sourcing event to signed contract.
Key responsibilities include:
Procurement Foundation
Draft, roll out, and maintain the Cyclomedia Procurement Policy
Define and manage the Preferred Vendor List (top 20 suppliers by spend)
Set up and maintain the Contract Register across all active vendor agreements
Implement the Purchase Order process and approval workflow company-wide
Communicate policy requirements to all employees globally
Spend Analysis & Visibility
Conduct a full spend analysis across all cost centres (opex, capex, and R&D)
Map vendor spend by category and identify consolidation and savings opportunities
Build and maintain a spend reporting dashboard for the COO and CFO
Track savings delivery against agreed targets on a monthly basis
Strategic Sourcing
Lead sourcing events for key spend categories including IT, hardware, fleet, and field services
Negotiate commercial terms, pricing frameworks, and multi-year agreements with strategic vendors
Run competitive tenders (RFQ/RFP) for spend above EUR 50,000
Deliver the year-1 savings target of EUR 2-4M through structured sourcing and volume leverage
Contract Management
Execute and manage supplier contracts including scope, pricing, IP, GDPR/DPA, and liability terms
Track auto-renewal clauses and flag upcoming renewal decisions 90 days in advance
Ensure all contracts above EUR 10,000 are documented and signed before work begins
Lead contract renegotiations triggered by performance reviews or market changes
Vendor Management
Onboard and qualify new suppliers — legal, financial, anti-bribery, and GDPR screening
Conduct annual performance reviews for strategic vendors (annual spend above EUR 50,000)
Drive the vendor consolidation programme to reduce duplicate supplier relationships
Collaborate with the Partner Manager on DI partner commercial frameworks
Requirements
Education & Experience:
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Economics, or a related field.
Minimum of 5 years of experience in a B2B procurement, strategic sourcing, or commercial role.
Demonstrated experience running end-to-end sourcing events, contract negotiation, and vendor management.
Experience in a technology, hardware, or field services environment is a strong advantage.
Track record of building procurement processes or functions from scratch is highly valued.
Skills & Competencies:
NEVI or CIPS certification (strong preference).
Proven negotiation skills — comfortable leading EUR 1M+ commercial conversations with senior supplier contacts.
Strong analytical capability — able to build and interpret spend data, business cases, and total cost of ownership models.
Fluent in English
Skilled stakeholder manager — able to work constructively with technical, product, and finance teams while maintaining commercial discipline.
Structured, hands-on, and results-oriented. Comfortable building process and structure where little exists today.
Highly motivated self-starter with a commercial mindset and the drive to create visible financial impact.
