Position Overview
Join a rapidly expanding data organization at Lean Tech,where the focus is on delivering actionable insights and comprehensive solutions rather than static reporting. In this senior-level role, you will collaborate directly with internal and external clients to design and implement data products that drive strategic decision-making. The position requires a blend of investigative problem-solving and technical expertise to map real-world logistics processes to accurate system data, acting as an internal consultant to optimize business outcomes. The primary responsibilities center on advanced data modeling and visualization within a modern stack. You will utilize dbt and SQL to build and extend core data models in Snowflake, ensuring robust data architecture and integrity. Additionally, the role entails developing backend models and interactive dashboards in Power BI, leveraging DAX and implementing Row Level Security (RLS) to ensure appropriate data access for client analytics. Operating with an engineering-driven approach, this position emphasizes automation, testing, performance optimization, and version control using Git. While infrastructure provisioning is managed by the broader Data team, this role demands full ownership of the data lifecycle from transformation to visualization, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and technical excellence.
Key Responsibilities
Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to translate complex business requirements into technical data solutions, acting as a consultant to optimize decision-making processes.
Design, build, and maintain scalable core data models in Snowflake using dbt, ensuring adherence to data modeling best practices and high standards of data integrity.
Develop and deploy comprehensive Power BI dashboards and applications for a global user base, utilizing DAX for complex calculations and backend modeling.
Implement and manage Row Level Security (RLS) within Power BI reports to ensure secure and appropriate data access for clients.
Define and engineer precise Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and metrics that align with business objectives and drive actionable insights.
Apply software engineering best practices to business intelligence workflows, including the use of version control (Git), automated testing, and performance optimization.
Take ownership of data quality and consistency within the data warehouse, ensuring the reliable delivery of insights to end-users.
Required Skills & Experience
Advanced proficiency in SQL with at least 4 years of practical experience, including deep knowledge of complex querying and data manipulation.
Strong expertise in data modeling and best practices within Snowflake to build and extend core data assets.
Minimum of 4 years of experience developing in Power BI, including proficiency in DAX and the implementation of Row Level Security (RLS) for client access.
Experience utilizing dbt for defining data transformations, testing, and documenting data models.
Proven ability to design meaningful KPIs and create visualizations that drive decision-making for both internal and external stakeholders.
Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to act as an internal consultant, mapping real-world business processes to technical data solutions.
A highly quantitative educational background or equivalent professional experience is preferred.
Nice to Have Skills
Proficiency in scripting languages such as Python or R for advanced statistical analysis or automation tasks.
Familiarity with data orchestration frameworks like Prefect for managing complex data workflows.
Experience utilizing CI/CD tools, specifically GitHub Actions or Azure DevOps, to support automated deployment pipelines.
Exposure to data ingestion and integration platforms such as Airbyte or HVR for batch and Change Data Capture (CDC) processes.
Knowledge of Azure Data Lake architecture for effective data staging and archival management.
Prior professional experience within the logistics or supply chain sector to provide deeper context for business data solutions.
