(Senior) Backend Engineer

As part of the Global Accounts squad, you will join a distributed, cross-functional engineering team responsible for services supporting both LATAM and EU markets. This role plays a critical part in strengthening our proximity to LATAM stakeholders, addressing local regulatory and operational challenges, and helping converge regional solutions into a truly global platform. A Software Engineer will take ownership of LATAM-related services, contribute to global platform evolution, and collaborate closely with teams and stakeholders across regions. This is a hybrid position in São Paulo, SP. 

What You’ll Do

• Act as a domain expert for Global Accounts services related to the LATAM market, with a strong focus on Brazil.
• Bridge communication and operational gaps between LATAM stakeholders and EU-based engineering teams.
• Support incidents and operational issues.
• Design, implement, and maintain scalable backend services that support both LATAM and EU use cases.
• Contribute to the convergence of regional systems into a unified global accounts platform.
• Work independently on features, maintenance tasks, and technical improvements.
• Collaborate closely with product managers, engineers, and local stakeholders to translate business needs into technical solutions.
• Actively participate in team ceremonies, technical discussions, and knowledge-sharing initiatives.
• Ensure systems remain compliant with local financial, regulatory, and operational requirements.
• Continuously improve system reliability, observability, and maintainability across services.

What makes you a great fit

• Proven experience in system architecture, object-oriented and functional design principles, data modelling, and API design (RESTful and event-driven).
• Strong backend development experience using Kotlin, Java, or Golang.
• Experience in building tested, observable, scalable, robust, and fault-tolerant distributed systems.
• Hands-on experience with AWS, Docker, Kubernetes, and cloud-native architectures.
• Familiarity with CI/CD practices and continuous deployment.
• Experience working with relational databases and understand data consistency and performance considerations.
• Have advanced written and spoken English skills.
• You communicate respectfully and transparently, fostering a collaborative and positive team environment.
• Experience working with changing requirements and iterative delivery.
• You take full ownership of the software you ship, from design to production readiness.
• You value clean, maintainable code and continuously refactor to keep designs simple and scalable.
