Senior Atlassian Platform Owner

TLDR

Lead the administration and architecture of Atlassian Cloud systems while driving automation, governance, and support models for a complex internal ecosystem.

Core Systems: Atlassian Cloud (Jira, Confluence, Jira Service Management, Tempo) + Atlassian Access (SSO/SCIM)

We are looking for a senior, hands-on leader to own and evolve our internal business systems ecosystem. This role starts with Atlassian Cloud administration and architecture (Jira, Confluence, Jira Service Management, Tempo).

You will be the person who can assess the current state independently, redesign architecture where needed, eliminate process and configuration debt, introduce governance, and implement automation and integrations that reduce manual effort and improve reliability. Over time, you will help build the internal Business Systems / IT Ops function (processes, standards, roadmap, and potentially a small team).

Key responsibilities:

- Own and redesign Atlassian Cloud architecture

- Lead full-lifecycle administration of Jira, Confluence, Jira Service Management (JSM), and Tempo.

- Audit and redesign Jira architecture: project and global schemes, workflows, permission model, roles/groups, fields/screens, issue types, notifications, and overall maintainability.

- Identify and remove configuration/process debt: rationalize schemes, reduce duplication, standardize templates, improve performance and usability.

- Establish governance: change control, admin model, naming conventions, documentation standards, and audit readiness.

- Service management & internal support operating model:

Own and improve Jira Service Management setup

Portal structure, request types and forms available in the Help Center,

Permissions, notifications, queues (and SLAs if applicable)

Advanced troubleshooting for customer/agent portal issues

- Build a scalable support model for ~200 users:

Intake and triage process

Priority definitions, SLAs for internal requests

Runbooks and knowledge base

- Automation, APIs, and integrations

- Build and maintain advanced automations (Jira Automation + complementary tooling where needed).

Design and maintain integrations using REST APIs, webhooks, and middleware patterns.

Integrate Jira/Confluence/JSM with internal and external systems (including Salesforce where relevant).

Implement operational tooling via API: audits (access, permissions), bulk updates, data quality checks, and repeatable administrative operations.

- Identity & access (Atlassian Access / SSO)

Own Atlassian Access administration: SSO policies, user lifecycle, access governance, and coordination with identity provider (IdP).

Improve provisioning/deprovisioning flows (SCIM) and access audit practices.

- Reporting, BI collaboration, and insights

Collaborate with the BI function to ensure consistent definitions and reliable source data.

Enable actionable reporting for operational transparency: project/program health, capacity/utilization (where applicable), service desk performance, adoption metrics.

- Internal consulting, training, and documentation

Act as an internal consultant to multiple departments on process design and tooling optimization.

Provide user enablement: training, best practices, office hours, guidelines.

Own documentation for workflows, automations, integrations, and system usage.

Requirements (Must-have):

- 5+ years of experience in Business Systems / Enterprise Tools with proven end-to-end ownership (not ticket-only administration).

- Deep hands-on expertise with Atlassian Cloud: Jira + Confluence + Jira Service Management + Jira Product Discovery + Tempo.

- Strong architecture mindset: ability to design maintainable permission models, workflows, schemes, and governance at company scale.

- Proven experience building advanced automation and reducing manual operations through scalable solutions.

- Strong integration skills: REST APIs, authentication patterns, rate limits, error handling, monitoring/troubleshooting.

- Experience owning SSO/Identity lifecycle in practice

- Excellent troubleshooting, root-cause analysis, and stakeholder communication skills.

- Strong documentation discipline and ability to create operational runbooks.
