About the Role
The role of the Associate Legal Counsel falls under the purview of the Legal team at WeWork India. This role combines legal expertise with a strong understanding of business operations and industry-specific laws. Legal professionals in this capacity play a crucial role in safeguarding the legal interests of the company and ensuring that all contracts and agreements are compliant with relevant laws and regulations. They also help drive process improvements
and facilitate the company's compliance with legal and policy requirements.
Roles and Responsibilities
● Draft, review, and negotiate CapEx and project-related legal and commercial agreements, including construction, fit-out, vendor, and supply contracts, ensuring compliance with applicable laws and internal policies.
● Provide legal and commercial support to cross-functional teams such as procurement, projects, real estate, engineering, finance, and other business stakeholders, as required.
● Support contracting processes and documentation, including standard templates, amendments, work orders, and related process improvements.
● Assist in identifying and managing legal and commercial risks associated with CapEx transactions and vendor engagements.
● Coordinate with external consultants and counsel to support legal matters and business requirements.
● Support general compliance, governance, and dispute-related matters, including drafting responses to legal notices and related documentation.
● Undertake additional legal responsibilities and projects as assigned, in line with business needs.
Education and Desired Qualifications
● Law degree from an accredited university
● 2-3 years post qualified experience of working in a major multi-national company/leading law firm
● Strong academic credentials and significant contracting and commercial experience
● Excellent communications and legal drafting in English
● Experience in using and managing compliance monitoring tools
● Proactive and intellectually curious with a core ability to problem solve and make the complex simple
● Interact with colleagues, both legal and commercial, from the Key Accounts team to drive collaboration, consistency and alignment of operational practices
● Ability to work independently from intake through execution and work closely with business partners on solutions and innovative process improvements
● Willingness to travel for business whenever required
