Job Description

The Opportunity

Springboard is building a best-in-class analytics platform to power how we understand student journeys, measure learning outcomes, and drive growth. We’re looking for a hands-on Senior Analytics Engineer to take ownership of our modern data stack - BigQuery, DBT, Looker, and Segment/Hevo - and play a central role in one of our most strategic challenges:

Stitching user identity across Canvas and our internal systems to create a single, trusted student-level data model.

You’ll be shaping the foundation of how the company uses data - solving hard data integration problems, defining trusted metrics, and building the analytics layer used daily by product, marketing, sales, operations, and leadership.

You’ll collaborate closely with teams across US and India time zones, with meaningful ownership, visibility, and room to grow technically and strategically.

This is a high-impact role with meaningful ownership, visibility, and room to grow.

Responsibilities

Core ownership

  • Lead identity stitching between Canvas LMS, product platforms, marketing tools, and CRM systems to power unified student analytics and lifecycle reporting.

  • Own ingestion and reliability of pipelines from marketing, product, CRM, support, and finance systems into Google BigQuery using Segment/Hevo.

  • Build and maintain reliable DBT models across staging, intermediate, and analytics layers with strong testing, documentation, and performance standards.

  • Design and govern LookML models and core Looker explores - owning the definition of business metrics across teams.

  • Integrate Canvas Instructure data into centralized reporting workflows.

  • Own day-to-day data platform operations: pipeline fixes, schema evolution, incident response, tech debt reduction, and process improvement.

Platform & Collaboration

  • Partner with product, growth, sales, and operations stakeholders to translate questions into scalable analytics solutions.

  • Onboard new data sources, deprecate legacy pipelines, and continuously improve reliability and maintainability of the stack.

  • Administer Looker permissions and governance practices.

  • Work effectively with engineering and business stakeholders across US and India time zones.

  • Contribute to CI/CD and data deployment workflows via Bitbucket and Bitbucket Pipelines.

Success in your first 2-4 months

  • Stakeholder collaboration - Built strong context across the data architecture to rapidly resolve high-priority issues with speed and quality.

  • Identity stitching live & trusted - Canvas + internal platform user matching is productionized and being actively used in student-level reporting.

  • Core pipelines stabilized - critical marketing, product, CRM, and finance sources are flowing reliably into BigQuery with monitoring and DBT tests.

Non-Negotiables (Must-Have)

Core stack experience

  • Strong SQL + DBT expertise (modeling fundamentals, testing, documentation).

  • Hands-on experience with Google BigQuery or another modern cloud warehouse (Snowflake acceptable if you can ramp quickly on BigQuery).

  • Proven experience building BI layers in Looker / LookML.

  • Experience building and operating ELT pipelines with tools like Segment, Hevo, or Fivetran.

  • Familiarity with Bitbucket workflows (CI via Bitbucket Pipelines can be ramped quickly on the job).

  • 5+ years of experience with the aforementioned core stack.

Analytics engineering fundamentals

  • Experience troubleshooting pipeline reliability issues end-to-end.

  • Comfort working across product events, marketing platforms, CRM systems, and transactional data.

  • API ingestion, schema versioning, and handling data inconsistencies.

Ways of working

  • 2+ years of experience collaborating cross-functionally with multiple business teams, including leadership.

  • High ownership and accountability for platform reliability.

  • Ability to collaborate across US and India time zones.

Nice to Have (Not Required on Day 1)

  • Deeper experience across marketing & CRM tooling (Google Ads, Facebook Ads, HubSpot, Marketo, etc.).

  • Advanced event tracking implementations (Segment + web/mobile instrumentation, GA4 setups).

  • Experience working with LMS systems, especially Canvas and Impact dashboards.

  • Python for light automation or custom ingestion needs.

  • Background specifically in identity stitching or cross-platform user matching.

Expectations

Day in the Life

You’ll rotate between stabilizing ingestion pipelines, refining DBT models, governing Looker explores, partnering with business teams on new questions, and pushing forward high-leverage platform initiatives - especially around identity unification and data reliability.

Every day you’ll be making the platform clearer, faster, and more trusted - and unlocking the data our teams need to better serve students.

Why This Role Is Special

  • You’ll own one of the company’s most strategic data problems - identity stitching across systems.

  • You’ll shape the definition of our metrics and reporting standards from the ground up.

  • Your work will be used daily by leadership and front-line teams.

  • You’ll have broad ownership, real autonomy, and space to grow in both technical depth and platform leadership.

We are an equal opportunity employer and value diversity at our company. We welcome applications from all backgrounds, and do not discriminate on the basis of race, religion, national origin, gender, sexual orientation, age, marital status, veteran status, or disability status.
