The Opportunity:

We are looking to fill an opening for a skilled and highly motivated individual to join the Finance & Treasury team as Senior Analyst, Fund Reporting.

Reporting to the Manager, Fund Reporting and Administration, the Senior Analyst, Fund Reporting will participate in all financial and regulatory reporting of Northwest & Ethical Investments (NEI) family of investment funds and to support the firm’s continued growth. The incumbent will manage the relationships with the fund administrator and other external service providers, such as auditors, printer and translators, for delivery of fund financial reports.

What your day looks like:

  • Participate in reviewing the annual and interim financial statements for all NEI mutual funds, portfolios, pools and alternative mutual funds, including supporting documents within tight deadlines
  • Participate in the production process for all fund financial statement information and financial data for all regulatory filings including but not limited to fund financial statements and MRFP, fund facts, and simplified prospectus. This includes managing the relationship with fund administrator, document service provider and coordinating the production cycle with Legal, Compliance, Product and Portfolio Management, and Marketing/IT teams
  • Review financial data of filings and offering documents to ensure consistency of definition, application and calculation methodologies per National Instruments rules
  • Participate in ad hoc projects and fund events (e.g., MER/administration costs changes, fund mergers and restructurings, fund and series launches, and systems conversions, etc.) as requirements arise
  • Ongoing relationship management and oversight of the fund administrator responsible for fund accounting and the preparation of NEI’s financial reporting requirements
  • Liaise with the external auditors ensuring that the audit plans for NEI funds are adequately planned and coordinated with the fund accountant and administrator
  • Maintain a good understanding and oversight of fund distributions, tax provisions, tax returns and related tax working papers prepared by the fund administrator
  • Working with fund administrator and tax consultant, provide support to the product team pertaining to tax treatment of financial instruments and fund products
  • Collaborate with internal partners to deliver on strategic initiatives
  • Continuous improvements in processes and operational excellence
  • Adherence to internal controls, policies and procedures
  • Provide support to Aviso’s projects and other tasks as required

Requirements

Your experience and skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree or college diploma required, commerce or business admin preferred
  • CPA accounting designation preferred, but not required
  • Minimum of 5 years’ relevant experience in fund reporting/auditing/accounting within the mutual fund/asset management industries
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office Excel
  • Knowledge of International Financial Reporting Standards related to investment funds
  • Experience with new fund launches and fund mergers is preferred
  • Meticulous attention to detail
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent written, verbal and presentation skills
  • Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment and continuously prioritize work
  • Ability to build and maintain relationships with departments across the organization and with various service providers
  • Commitment to fostering a culture of innovation and continuous improvement
  • Fluent communication skills in English are required and bilingual skills in French are an asset

Salary

This position is posted with an expected salary range of $83,000 - $100,000 CAD annually. Individual compensation packages are based on various factors unique to each candidate and the requirements of the position.
